about HI
This shirt got a really low score yet was printed, where designs of mine got higher scores and where not printed, how is that done? Or is threadless just choosing shirts that they like?

Kind of annoying.

although i personally like this t-shirt, i understand your complaint.

people, although we may like the shirt (and so must the threadless guys), what is the point of the scoring and where has the concept of this website gone if they are ignoring the votes and favouring nothing but their personal opinion?

"i understand your complaint."

I understand the kind of people who complain about this shirt....

if you wanna found a website only with the t-shirts you like yourself, then why bother creating the whole voting system, you know?

when you buy threadless then you can decide what's printed but until then your opinion doesn't hold much weight

Is that a Viagra tablet you're after? Exactly what kind of tablet would help you come up with better "ideas" than that Bunny Robot thing?

How? Well, luckily, Threadless has an FAQ. Perhaps you should have consulted that!

"We look at the top 300 designs every couple of weeks and pick out around 10 designs that we want to print based off of the design's score, comments, and the number of i'd buy it's. Ultimately the decision of which shirts get printed are left up to us. The scoring system helps give us a general idea of which designs our customers want. "

It's not just the score.

Freedom to choose. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Nobody's forcing you to do so.

notice the amount of points that they have. the average could be anything but as long as alot of people vote then they can win.

This is my first buy from threadless. I fell in love with it at once. Typography, beauty and simplicity united. Great work mister.!The pink on dark grey is brilliant. Though the dark grey looks kind of navy on the pic. Anyhow, on it's way to Sweden now.

It got printed because apparently the threadless crew has taaaste. I was so upset when this got a low score thinking i'd never get it.. now i own it. Ray's subs all rule.

Yeah I'm not so keen on this shirt either. I think the "Plenty in stock" also shows its not been such a great hit.

Huh? Stickymike hasn't posted anything to this blog in two days, you've got pretty odd timing. It's not for me to speak for Mike but, even though he doesn't know you he is aware of your work, that's the nature of the site. And, let's face it, you did ask for a response regarding Ray's work being chosen over yours.

You also said that Threadless was going down the ladder (rather than walking down the wall with multi-coloured footprints, presumably); you're bound to get a moderately heated response.

Don't you think?

I think people lack appreaciation for what threadless is doing. Where else can anybody, pro or am, get $2000 for a design with almost no guidelines, hassles, bitching, clients, etc.

For threadless to stay alive they have to sell shirts - i kinda think it makes sense that they would get to print the ones they think will sell.

Regardless of your opinion of this shirt - it's different! It's refreshing to see some new styles . . . props to threadless for taking a leap and printing something totally original.

i love your bunny robut design, but i guess threadless just liked hi better. ive seen shirts that got REALLY hi scores on their submission, and still didnt get printed. on the other hand, ive also seen shirts like hi that got low scores and still got printed.

lifes not fair. deal with it.

I think it's pretty lame to talk shit on a design because it's outside of your realm of taste. I dont want to buy shirts with lame puns, mexican wrestlers or pirates on them. HI is an amazing excercise in simplicity, typography, and tee shirt design. My first day wearing this i had random people smile at me and some say HI. I think it's genius and awesome and gives me faith that the higher ups at threadless know well enough to print the puns and pirates, and also print amazing designs by people like fenwick, sonmi, and barbara. We all have different taste and that's why threadless thrives. To say things like this shirt is so crappy it makes you angry is not only mean, but completely juvenile.
Ray.

Thanks Cynot3, it's nice to hear stuff like that! I just got my Hi shirt today, and the amount of smiles I got was off the hook, even though it gave me false self-confidence. I was pretty stoked, even though the whole point was just to make a shirt with the most un-word word in the world.

i like you designs better.

I think that a lot of the Threadless "judges" like shirts that are weird for no other reason than to be weird. I don't agree with a lot of the shirts they decide to print - I would have bought your robot bunny shirt, but wouldn't even consider this one.

I'd love to see a spin-off site, or maybe a deviant art community, where people can post their ideas that we're not even accepted into the running in the first place -

Well, i think its original... and the fact that the threadless guys really look at the subs, whether it has a high score or not.

But i dont really like it, not my type. And to make you feel better you're right it hasn't sold out.
