I don't catch the connection between Guy Fawkes' Day and Ron Paul, but I suppose I don't follow that closely. Why are people donating to Ron Paul in honor of Guy Fawkes' Day?
spires
   spires on Nov 05 '07 at 11:17am
Because Ron Paul wants to severly limit the government's power. He's America's foremost advocate of liberty.

So I'm doing a research study on online forums, and one of the forums I'm researching is an extremist group forum - Stormfront White Nationalist Community. I went to the site yesterday to get more information about their policies, and was interested to see that they're promoting Ron Paul like crazy.

Oh wow, way to hit me with a face full of duh. I was looking too hard for the common denominator here. I feel silly now.

I don't know what they think Ron Paul is going to do for them, but I guess even racists like low taxes and an end to pointless wars.

Don't try a smear by association, that's so 1993

Hey spires, is he running as an independent or in the republican category?
spires
   spires on Nov 05 '07 at 12:25pm
Republican, but the party is trying to shut him out. He's basically making fools of the GOP.

All sorts of democrats and independents are switching for him.

Guy Fawkes = Ron Paul
??????????????????????

Isn't Ron Paul Protestant?
kirstenlovesdinner
kirstenlovesdinner on Nov 05 '07 at 12:27pm
Yeah, because if I had the choice between Hillary or Ron Paul, I'd go for Paul.

Though it's pretty sad he has no chance of winning.

look at the money he's raising. don't believe bullshit polls!

He has the only chance to beat hillary, I think

I don't think it's realistic to foresee becoming president. With the level of corruption present in the system, I think certain people would keep it from happening--as his presidency would hurt the "evildoers" in our own country.

I don't think this country can ever return to what it was intended to be.

Way to give up on change. Really nice.

Kirsten's right; there is a point at which the system becomes so bloated with disease that it becomes unworkable.

We are about to freefall into that scenario. Imagine Ron Paul as tossing a lifesaver to a drowning America. Change is still possible! The opportunity is slipping, so we have to jump on it!
kirstenlovesdinner
kirstenlovesdinner on Nov 05 '07 at 12:42pm
Kevin, as much as I want it to happen, it won't.
KBShakedown
KBShakedown on Nov 05 '07 at 12:45pm
I realize that every generation thinks their generation is the worst it can get. And then it usually gets worse.

And we probably are at a point where it would be impossible to ignite enough change to make things the way they should be.

But you still work for it. And sometimes you have to crumble the entire system and start over. Maybe that's what needs to be done. But it will happen. Don't tell me it won't happen.
spires
   spires on Nov 05 '07 at 4:33pm
It will happen, and there's every chance in the world that it could start with Ron Paul next year.

Please donate!

Spires, honestly, he has no chance of winning, but that doesn't mean you can't get behind him and vote based on who is bestfor the job instead of who might not be so bad and has a chance of winning but is still way too accepting of the current diseased system. That's what starts the sparks flying.

FRICKINAWESOME

Why should they Andy? They get waaay more mileage out of him being painted as the "crazy long-shot" in the republican party that shouldn't be taken seriously. Plus, all the people running the media outlets have nothing to gain from him winning the election. It's a sad sad state of affairs. I just wish that and independent or a few other nominess will be able to speak at the major presidential elections next year to get some more alternative voices and ideas heard by a larger group of people and be taken seriously.

That's a lot of money from only 37000 donors. On a related note, the Queen opened Parliament today, so the Monarchy and the Lords and the Prime Minister and all of the MPs were gathered in the House of Lords almost exactly on the spot where the attempted gunpowder plot took place. It was like a 21st century reconstruction of events.

He's just pushing the right buttons for middle class Americans. He wants to overturn Wade v Roe. Are you fucking kidding me? The state shall decide the legality of abortion. That is a step backwards towards back street abortions. He's pro life, but opposes gun control? That just doesn't add up. The baby is protected until it's born, and then got shot by a gun toting fool.

If I'm wrong with these facts then please forgive me. I'm getting all my info from the net, since I'm not in the US.
spires
   spires on Nov 06 '07 at 7:04am
the biggest gun toting fools in any place, are the people who comprise the only institution with a legal monopoly of force. The state is a bigger threat to your life, than is a peaceful gun owner who wishes to protect himself from the state. Let only the mob and the military have guns? That's laughable. For all that is good and true, why some people believe that the state is working for their interests, baffles the shit out of me. It's like people who believe this were taught to be crazy.

Decentralized policy is a step forward for everybody, because one sized fits all decrees don't serve anyone but those in power. The constitution makes no mention of abortion and is legally a state issue. Put it where it belongs.

Should he be pushing all the right buttons for the wall street elite like Rudy McHillary? The middle class is currently turning into the lower class in this country, and it's time we lance the parasites who are lowering our standard of living.

Not really - I was mostly looking at the 'Lounge' (general discussion area) for my project. I did have a peak into the 'Opposing Views' area and found a lot of posts by people who all agreed with Stormfront and were talking about mysterious others who disagree.

Ron Paul could do a hell of a lot for the country if he did manage to win, but a system as corrupt as this can only be changed so much without the use of force. The only way that I see to change completely in the direction that the people want is with a violent revolution--and I don't see that happening any time soon.

Go Ron Paul!

If anyone seriously thinks that Ron Paul is not the answer, then you might as well say that the government has SUCCESSFULLY brainwashed you and stolen your common sense.

Ron Paul is honest and knows what's best for this country. What's best is individual privacies, and oh yeah FREEDOM. The government invades and harms the people. The government over prints money- the value of the dollar is basically worthless- and STEALS from us. Economically, we are failing- heading for a depression. The government - especially ours- has failed. Ron Paul will help the people gain back their liberties , rights. and FREEDOM through the constitution.

xnarx on Nov 06 '07 at 4:58pm
Sorry HiiHills but the government does not control my common sense.

Ron Paul goes against in a lot of what I believe in. Just because I am voting for someone other than Mr. You should kill your parents and horray for genocide, does not mean I am brainwashed.
spires
   spires on Nov 06 '07 at 5:00pm
vote for him because if you don't the economy will fail and you will be suffering.

None of the other candidates will end the war. Don't be young and believe the happy smiles!

kill your parents? hurray for genocide?!

um, yeah where in the constitution does it say to 'save' OTHER countries from genocides? it does not. where in the constitution does it say to even force ourselves in other countries' situations? it does not.

oh, yeah, the founding fathers were against that and tried to keep us from involving with other countries, besides trade. now look at us. Many countries hate us and we have become the biggest terrorist in the world.

oh, and gun control would be for DEFENSE. Not to voluntarily kill people or for offense. It is to protect the U.S.- the people- when under attack.

He actually believes in the people- individuals- to be...adult enough to make their own decisions.

thanks.

WE ARE NOT A WORLD GOVERNMENT.
