Holy shit, yesterday my blog, tcritic.com got mentioned in a post on fimoculous.com which got picked up by http://boingboing.ne and I was essentially linked to from the home page all day. The result, 13,000 vistors, 20,000 page views and 2,000 subscribers to my frikin rss feed. phew. It also resulted in a whole bunch more entries on T-Shirt War.

I feel like the internet just had sex with me, and i'm basking in the afterglow :-)

Just be happy your werent dugg. I had to give up on my tech blog because I was just hosting it on GoDaddy, and what do you know.... I got dugg, (digg.com if you dont know) my site was overflowed, and they wont let you keep the 15 dollar account with 25k views a day.

Damn, that sucks. Luckily i'm hosting at mediatemple who give me 1.5 terrabytes of bandwidth a month. They seem to have handed the spike flawlessly. They have a new service called grid hosting which is spreads your hosting across multiple boxes for a much higher degree of reliability.

Thanks Helo, I appreciate it. It's funny really, i've been writing a blog for 3+ years that I labored over articles on, tcrtic has been up for 4 or 5 months and has smoked my other blog :-) It will be interesting to see how the traffic sustains after the initial spike, obviously it generated a lot of incoming links which will help on google, i'm currently the number 3 result on google when you search for "t-shirt blog"

tcritic,

All work is profitable. And all those years on your blog has
sharpened your skills so tcritic.com is as good as it is now.
So it's no loss really.

Your RSS by email is a great idea. Is there a way to
bring a little more attention to it? If another tsunami
of viewers comes your way again, then that RSS by
email is a great net to help nudge those eyes your way
regularly. By the way I just signed on and I'm looking
forward to be nudged regularly.

Actually Bananaphone I do know that so far in november 64 people have hit my site after searching for it on google. Not a huge amount, but i've found it to be a good approach on SEO to measure success based on very niche phrases. I may not see myself on the front page of google for someone searching for "t-shirt" for a long time, but building relevance in niche phrases that contain the keywords you want is a good thing.
