Sort of a counter post to pixel_dust's complaints of being too skinny - what about the chubbier female members of Threadless - I think they need to start printing shirts in girly 2XL. American Apparel makes a girly 2XL, so why print a 2XL men's shirt with out printing a 2XL for girls??

Our ideas of small must be different. Men's shirts fit differently, and I often like the color choices for the girly shirts better.

A lot of other places don't even do the girly XL which is quite infuriating. At 5ft 9 with 34 dd boobs, I never really think of myself as being Extra Large. I guess compared to The Borrowers, I am ;-)

I know a lot of girls on here are only 5ft, so it must be hard for clothing manufacturers to work out what is average. Thanks for noticing the huge rack though Leon.

I agree, they should make bigger girl's sizes. I'm forced to buy the 2X guys because that's what will fit me. I wear 3X girls from Torrid. I hate how hard it is to find nice shirts that fit.
lldemosthenesll
lldemosthenesll on Aug 18 '06 at 3:57am
The girly XLs fit me, but I get a lot of chest stares, and I hate that, so I would wear a larger shirt since I prefer looser, less form-fitting clothing. And I hate the men's cuts because of the chest and sleeves, so larger girly sizes would be awesome.

If we had a suggestion, who do we email it to?

deboraborialis
deboraborialis on Aug 18 '06 at 4:07am
I don't think it really matters what the lable says, as long as you can get a shirt that fits. Obviously some people are not getting shirts to fit, so that is a problem. Whenever things have to suit a younger, more teenage audience as well as adult, you always end up being XL when you would normally be a medium or a large in the "real world". That's the way girls clothes seem to work. Do you know what I mean?

I hate shirts that are too tight and like to keep things a little to the imagination, so I get where you're coming from.
Also, the amount of shrinkage in the girls shirts is amazing.
Breasts can be annoying.
Mens cuts suck.... those damn sleeves.

It's your wife's chest that makes her have to wear a large I think... but these shirts do run smaller than the girly tee's I find in stores. I won't reveal my chest size here, but I really would like a 2XL because it's less "attention whore" and more "she's wearing a cool t-shirt."

I doubt they would add an extra size though, as girly xl is usually the last one to sell out anyway.

sam42, I know what you mean... but I looked at his wife's picture, and she's super skinny except for her chest, so that's probably the only reason she's a large.

I also just emailed Threadless. We should all do the same, so they know there is a demand for it. :)

in my recent order for me and other peeps - there was a medium, large and xlarge girly shirts - they're all nearly the same size!

if not introducing bigger sizes such as 2XL at least make the sizes what they really are - my little sister who's 13 and nowhere near huge is stretching an Xlarge - i think cos her boobs are growing (gross thought let me tell you)

i believe in equality. since AA produces girlie 2xl shirts, i think threadless should make the option available. if the slightly higher price tag on 2xl shirts is whatīs stopping them; itīs not like bigger people arenīt used to paying more for equal quality products anyway....
MadTheologian

Loserbeech...wanna trade guts? :D

But even trading guts won't do any good for me.

I wore a Girly XL last year...and after a 20-pound loss (Thanx Dr Atkins and Weight Watchers!) I still wear the same size for Threadless shirts!

Ya know how convoluted it is to drop two/three pant sizes...a good 8/10 instead of 14 (Medium instead of XL)...and still have to buy a different size for your blouse or shirt. :[

Straight from the horse's mouth:
Sorry, we only carry S-2XL for the Guys tee and S-XL for the Girly tees. We
haven't had much of a demand to carry other sizes than what we offer. It seems
like there would be a demand. However, we stock much less of the Girly XL size
and it takes just as long if not longer to sell than the rest of the girly
sizes. If that changes in the future, we'll definitely add additional sizes.
Sign up for the Threadless newsletter and be notified if and when that happens.

Have a wonderful day!

My only comment is.... duh, XL or the larger sizes isn't selling that well because some girls simply just have to purchase men's shirts rather than trying to squeeze into girly sizes.

Begining the ball of fluff that I am, I have to order Guys medium. My boobies and the buddha belly that I have just aren't going to mesh with a printed design on a Girly shirt. I'm all for offering larger Girly sizes. Honestly though, I don't think I'd order them because I like Guys shirts better anyway. Stretchy fabric just doesn't do it for me.

Yeah i agree... I've been hanging around here for about 11 months and have seen amazing shirts come and go. The only thing that has kept me from buying is the lack normal girl sizes. I refuse to buy a men's shirt because the fit is terrible unless you like baggy shirts.

I'm in exactly the same boat as Deborah. I'm 5'8" with a 34DD chest so despite normally buying mediums in regular stores I'm relegated to buy girly XL (which is really not girly but junior sizing) and hope to god they don't shrink much.

Honestly I hate A.A. shirts because their sizing is offensively tiny to a majority of women. But what can we do?? That answer from Threadless (above) is total BS. I'm actually sorta offended.. as the reply was sent by a female who should understand this issue a bit better.

As lldemosthenesll pointed out many women who would buy a girly 2XL usually just suck it up and buy men's .. so HOW would threadless know that there is no demand for them? There's no demand because normal women are settling for ill-fitting men's sizing.

Threadless should post a poll asking us to identify just how many girls would buy a 2XL shirt. Then they could honestly say that they havn't had much of a demand for them. Hopefully someone with the company will read this blog and take some action rather than just brush us off.

Whew... I just needed to get that out. The women's sizing here (or lack thereof) is my biggest, and really only, problem with Threadless.

I would definitely buy 2x if threadless sold them. It has always pissed me off that they have 2x for men and not women. I almost didn't buy a shirt when first started coming here because I didn't think a xl would fit me. It turned out to fit ok but it's a little short and the design stretches a lot. I wish that my tits were smaller because the waist on the xl fits prefect. It's like shirts aren't designed for women who actually have breasts.

If I gain weight I won't be able to buy shirts here anymore because there is no way I'm wearing mens shirts they look super dumpy on me.

I can't believe they said the girly xl take longer to sell because it seems the opposite to me.

Have any of you tried out the Men's AA sizes (aka the Select T's). The sleeves don't flare and the shirts are about 3" longer. They come in larger sizes and are super soft. I actually perfer them for the added length.
Plus they are on sale right now....

Wow, glad to have sparked something. :]
Just to clear something up, though, I wasn't complaining about being too small, I know it's nothing to complain about (although I do find it annoying when complete strangers grab my wrists to point out how disgusting they are and ask me if I'm anorexic) nor do I think threadless should offer smaller tees. I was just, you know, saying.

Whether you are too little or too big to fit in the clothes available, the problem is still a valid one. I have a couple of friends who are very slender, and they also get a hard time sometimes for ignorant people. They also have just as much trouble getting clothes to fit as anyone else.

i have to wear the guy's L. it fits well around the arms and boobs, and is also tall enough in the torso. most places, i have to buy xL sizes and threadless has been the best, most comfy fit so far. but yes, they should still do 2xl girls.
pyr4lis
pyr4lis on Aug 18 '06 at 5:45pm
Well... in regards for the Men's sizes it's just a bit of a pet-peeve of mine. I am not a man therefore I do not want to have to buy Men's clothing. I am a girl with curves and I would like a nice stretchy girly shirt ment to fit curves. It's the principle of the thing and the double standard that society has that Men can be a 2XL but threadless doesnt want to offer 2XL for women... and in juniors sizes not even normal sizes. (insert sarcasm here) Now I'm going to have to go diet and try to conform to societies & threadlesses standards of what a "women" should look like.

I would definitely buy girly 2XL. Right now I'm stuck buying the guys sizes. And a friend of mine whom I sometimes buy for can wear girly XL but only just barely. If they shrink (which one of them has) she can't wear them anymore.

I think we should all email Threadless (I already did it) so they know girls are willing to to request it, and perhaps even link them here, so they can read all of our own viewpoints. I did my best, but I'm only one voice, and they are really a company at heart, and profit and loss are the only things that speak to them.

I think a survey among the Threadless customers should help give them a better idea of the demand for the proper sizing, or at least a 2XL shirt.

Yes, lldemosthenesll, I got the same response as you when I emailed yesterday. If there is a demand for 2XL I think we should let Threadless know. As someone else mentioned they probably don't realize since us larger girls often order mens sizes.
