Gender differences in design placement

about Night Birds

My title sounds like a lame college thesis paper or something. Anyway, I've never seen Threadless use two different placements for the different sexes before- how did their market research ever have them arrive at that interesting destination? Has this been done in the past for any other design?

I noticed that too...a bit weird.

I usually get the guy's smalls because I like my shirts bigger, but I might be getting the girly size in this one just because I like the placement better.

Quite often the girly placement is higher on the chest.

I think that is is interesting that the darker color went to the womans shirt on this and DPU select tee.

Yeah OC- for once i wanted to have the darker color and straight up center placement for this design, and Threadless turns the tide and gives both advantages to women! I'd consider buying a girl's tee if i was just a tad more svelte- maybe if i pick that third eyeball growing in between my "man boobs" off I could pull it off...

you're actually being tricked by the photo as both the guys an girly version have side placement. The print is the same size for all tees and since girly tee's are not as wide as the guys they shift more towards a centerish print on the smaller sizes(what you're seeing in the photo).

As for the color... the next darkest color above dakota slate is black and you wouldn't see any of the black print if we went with that. Also note that the actual tee isn't as purple as it looks here, just some weird lighting going on.

thanks for the clear uppance on this issue Shimala- I love the shirt no matter what, so it could be upside down and in the armpit and id still buy this print. on another note, i just added up how much money ive spent in the last four months on this site, and im drying my tears with the 60,000 shirts i now have in my possession because of this place. DAMN YOU FOR ENABLING MY DESIGN ADDICTION!!! ps- Keep it up...i..i don't know what just came over me...
