No Smoking Section - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

Old news:

So I'm rarely an indecisive bastard (and sometimes just the last word), but CazKing and myself aren't sure which way this design would work best and was wondering if anyone cared to weigh in on this submission life or death situation.

The name of this design is "Darn Smokers" or something much much better we haven't come up with yet, and hopefully the concept comes through regardless of which version you like better.

Bare-bones, simpler version:

Whatcha think? Carol and I haven't refined the more complex version yet, I personally really like the Pyro's restaurant addition but Carol is worried the surroundings might soften the effect of the actual joke...and egads, she might be right! Wondering what everyone thought, thanks for helping out, and here's some extra helpings of sketches and links to our other scoring designs while you're waiting for people to respond to your latest blogging epiphanies.

Middle ground, more like the first one but pointing to the no smoking sign instead of him saing it.

It could also look nice if some of the sign was hidden by the smoke.

My $.02 do away with the background but keep the setup of the 2nd one. Basically have the smoking flame walking into flame and have the other flame pointing to the sign. Also keep the mustache on the guy point to the sign and maybe add a monocle the smugger the better.

Pyro's is good, but I think the simpler version would translate better.

Maybe in between? like have the background kind of fade out through distressing techniques. You definitely need something to isolate your foreground.

haha@YaaH, I like the "spruced-up" version too, but i think people are right this time and we should scale back the concept a bit...

barebones...I really don't like "decorated room" scenes on tees, simpler in this regard is better

Yeah, we're gonna go for a combo of the two, we discussed it and Carol should be sending a new sketch in the next couple days, you guys helped a tons, thanks a bunch again!

I actually really like "decorated room" designs on tees, the borders just have to disappear into the shirt and provide an effective if sometimes invisible border.

I'll admit this is one of the first FA ideas that I'm not entirely thrilled with. I prefer the Pyro's Restaurant scene then one fire telling another fire to not smoke; but I think if I went to a place called "Pyro's" I'd expect some fire-related theme.

Maybe it'd be funnier if it was a dad-fire finding his kid's stash of weed, and saying the "no smoking sign"

I feel like it's a dead end idea, unless a second layer of hilarity is added; what that second layer should be- I don't know.

Dang Jake, after almost 280 collabs, i was bound to make something with someone that you thought was lame brained, haha.

Dunno, I think one fire telling another fire not to smoke which is impossible to stop is kinda funny :)

I tried this concept with another artist a couple months back, and we actually had it as a father admonishing his kid from smoking, but I felt it didn't read as well as this did. Although a child fire with some weed smoke coming out of its "head" would be funny too...

I agree with bottleHeD and you Jake about adding that second layer which i thought the Pyro's restaurant did...the name of the restaurant is again supposed to be ironic since it's about fire people and then telling others not to smoke in a place with that name.

Thanks again Goliath and everyone's thoughts, Carol and I will have a third version soon, if it bombs it bombs, it's always fun to try new crazy things out, ya know? :)
