Craigless

A couple more photos.

I know I'm way late to the game for this kind of bloggle, but I just wanted to personally thank Threadless for the amazing digs and hospitality that were set up for me, and for the fantastic Meetup day experience once again which becomes filled with more magical people and presentations and thrift store ridiculousness as the years pile on.

Also, thanks everyone for helping me get over a giant, ugly, eight-legged hairy fear of mine which is talking in front of a big group of people, especially when I respect the thoughts/opinions going on in so many of their brains. It was a very supportive group of people and meeting/reuniting with so many of you always serves as a fresh dose of inspiration to get my mind's ass in gear to venture to higher and more unconventional places.

Random, completely incomplete memories from the meetup:

-Walking in the pouring rain to the warehouse where Jonah swore the kickball meetup was taking place, and then turning around and following Jonah for some reason into cement that we found out all too quickly was still wet. Luckily the guy makes up for his lax follow-the-leader skills with being a sweetheart and having cool abilities like coming up with super silly ideas as fast as a gumball machine gone haywire. But now the bottom of my size 11's are forever etched into the sidewalk pavement across the street from Threadless HQ, I'm never too far away!

-Rolf and I enjoying a Boss Hog beer topped with barbeque sauce and pierces of ribs floating around in it...well, that's what it would have been like had it existed and I was forced at gunpoint to drink one.

-Basking in the glow of Justin's shiny HOLLYWOOD persona and talking favorite Tony/Ridley Scott brother movies.

-"Adam, in this country we don't use the metric system, we measure everything in Bic Macs, nuggets and fryometers!"

-Awesome times chatting and laughing with rythmMattman and Megan who needs her own user name since she's not just somebody's misses!

-Staring longingly at Enkel's pearly white smile.

-Having the craziest Google+ conversation with t4sha on two different computers in the same room, which made flashing the cameras back and forth between people quite the dizzying game of computer screen teleportation.

-Being treated like true members of the threadless team by Jake, Rachel, Jess and Mimi during our fifteen hour Ambassador meeting marathon.

-Getting stern, disapproving looks from Alva that were followed by giant smiles and bear hugs that would kill a thinner human being.

-neSTAR, thank you for the death-defying beer run, as well as instilling an unparallelled amount of fear in the Threadless staff regarding the sweeping changes in the slogan world. Dude, it felt like they were talking about Lord Vader, don't choke people to death with your salsa-strengthened arms and fingers!

-Dancing to breakdancing midgets performing to Ton Loc songs at Mahoney's with Monica, Priscilla, Becca and Rolf's sweet n' swirly dance rave moves.

-Being drenched with sweat and slightly tipsy when coming back from Mahoney's and bumping into Nathan Pyle and his brother Gabe outside, aka the most energizing and positive individuals on Earth.

-Sitting through a ton of amazing presentations, and then giving my own where i didn't see one person fall asleep out of sheer exhaustion.

-Best piece of advice at the meetup: David Schwen ending his and Phil's presentation by saying simply "Get out there and fail."

-Meeting the one and only Rossmat, who was much more football linebacker in real life as opposed to a frail happy tree painting and geriatric crime-solving avatar would suggest.

-Going from Billy Goat's hamburger Craphouse directly to a much better resutarant before I was even done chewing and not enjoying the "city famous" meat razor shavings. Love you Adam, but your Canadian taste buds towards burgers is spotty at best!

-Playing around on a blue vagina statue with Courtney Pie and dodging the mind-reading security guards who had a sentient-like presence around us.

"Why does she keep saying all these dirty things?"

-Jeremy! What a swell and humble dude, thanks for drawing the coolest mutant Adventure Time action scene in my Moleskin!

-Booing RandyAaron's bestee announcement with Aled and a couple of other people all in good fun maaaaan!

-"Welcome to the Flint Michigan Action News Room, we've got Adam on sports, Phil with the weather and Evan on location hunting down the stories that fill time for a half hour worth of programming!"

-Getting to know a bunch of bloggers I never really knew too well before and I will be harassing much more often on Threadless now:

-Mya Jamila
-nigil
-R3d Fox
-Jake Friedman
-nickv47
-crauqhaus
-stevetheprettydamnedcoolness

-Ms Queenmob aka A-M, you are an awesome Austrian and thanks so much for catching cabs with me and engaging in make-believe backwards fist fights!

-SupeRyan spoke this year! And said lots of funny things to me!

-Brandon and Alvin's giant pant suit shuffle. That fucking outfit would have been falling off of Fat Albert's hefty circumference.

-Enjoying Alex and body-movin' friends perform their version of the Def Comedy Breakdance Jam.

-No words can describe ToraSteve and Jared performing "More Than Words." Also Jared and I would like you to watch "Fire In The Sky" whenever it's immediately convenient for haunting alien hijinks.

-Ending the meetup night singing "Don't You Forget About Me", and coming off the stage to an awesome couple telling me, "dude, during that song me and my girl had several "moments" with one another." Awww, I've always wanted to be Sexual Chocolate!

Thanks a million for all the IRL good times everyone and making me feel less homesick for my family!

This is true Stevie, that hair flowed so nicely I mistook it for a fresh-water stream in the middle of Chicago. Just added you to the list above, sorry man!

Nicke, haha, just be happy I got the numbers in the same realm. Corrected!

haha, how do people say your name usually? I haven't watched my presentation yet, will probably do so with eye covers on and the sound turned off.

Ross, added you up there as well, how in the blazes am I missing so many mind-shattering cool people?

A-M, I gotta work on my downward face smashes, your mind doesn't want to let your head pop up.

Mya, feel free to accidentally bump into my elbows with your body parts any time! You were my Desiree of this year's meetup: someone I barely talked to on Threadless before the meetup and was blown away at how much fun we had and how cool you were. I'll try my best to e-stalk your blogs and make goofy comments from now on :)

ALVA! Thanks a bunch my good man, I'd like to elaborate on how cool I think you are, so prepare for a 15 page email in a couple minutes.

Mitch, don't even COMMENT on this blog you big shadow of a bunkmate! All I have for memories with you this year is a bunch of fairly hilarious texting back and forths! You better make it up to me next year with a full rendition of the gummi bear adventures them song, with you dressed as Zummi Gummi!

GABE! I didn't type your name up above and I'm sorry for it, you are so much more than JUST Nathan's brother :) haha, I speak how i type pretty much, I'm not born for this Twitter-centric small-word-burst world...

haha Ryder, I missed you at the pizza parlor this year, we went tot he same exact one, only with three times as many people. I was so happy to see you won the minimalism bestee, grats dude for starting the Threadless simpleness revolution!

It was pretty cool that before you said anything (other than 'Jeremyyyyyyyyy. What's up, man?') you gave me a big bear hug, even though we'd never met in RL before. Best. Welcome. Ever.

Sorry I didn't draw something a little more 'original' in your Moleskin. I was kinda drained and wanted to do something fun and familiar and fast. I'll make it up to you in the future. COUNT ON THIS.

Mya, the more bizarre the better in my book, when it's the good clean (or dirty in your book) kind of fun-loving bizarre and not the "I take pictures of my feces and then eat them so I crap them out again" kind of bizarre. You were the picture of thrifty beauty in your nearly award-winning outfit!

Monica, you are some kind of rug-cutting dancing machine and we now have the pics to prove it. Much fun hanging with you in shitty burger joints!

Alex, didn't chill too much with you, but thanks for welcoming me into Threadless as an employee and friend when all the Ambassadors were wandering around the Art Dept, as well as introducing me to I believe Kevin was his name at the bar as some kind of Threadless superstar.

Oh, and of course when I called Becca's phone and you answered well past the legal drink limit and proclaimed "GET DOWN HERE NOW SO I CAN FUCK YOU!"

Mike, dangit dude, when we got together for a few moments on Thursday night I held on to the glimmering hope of more chill time with you and massive amounts of back and forth movie conversations. Craqmike and I talked for a half hour about Exit Through the Gift Shop, you shoulda been involved maaaaan!

No probs RF, I remember when I came to my first meetup and just stood around in the back not knowing how to approach anyone because the experience was so surreal, glad I could break the IRL ice for ya.

Yeah, that was sweet. Thanks again.

By the way, I'm curious as to what your words per minute typing speed is... I remember you saying it was very fast, but you should take one of those test things and post the results. I'm curious. :)

The sad fact is Mike I'm a fast typer (and it helped recuperate my wrists when they were in REAL bad shape earlier last decade), but I have to look at the keyboard, I don't have that professional hand stance...which is ironically what played a big role in destroying my wrists the first time! I've learned to adjust my typing style though...it's all in having proper wrist support, take care of your wrists, they're fucking important!

Dude, sorry I couldn't get you from the airport this time around, I actually had to work that day you made it to Chicago.

Funny to hear the staff was talking about me like I was lord vader no wonder they ask supersize Yoda aka FA to keep an eye on me. Sorry about all the profanity heavily infuse rants you were forced to hear from me at the meet-up, at least you have a bunch of new words to share with your kid now.

Your presentation at the meet-up!!!! dude I was so glad that you were asked to speak at the meet-up, I couldn't sleep for days but your presentation put me out cold for a good refreshing nap as soon as you started talking, too bad it didn't last longer, LOL . Seriously now, It was so good to have at least one person talk about slognas during the meet-up NO ONE else said anything about it !!!!

Too bad we didn't have a chance to asked the staff why I had no received my prize package yet, Still waiting for it by the way.....

Wish I had spend more time with everyone but my salsa duties and spoiler blog duties ( couldn't ignore the spoiler blog ) kept me busy during the weekend, hopefully next year I will be able to manage my time a bit better.

haha, thanks Aaron! That was so funny when I came off the stage and you said to me "man, you really went for it there!"

No probs at all Nestor about the airport pickup, it's not your responsibility, I just wanted to chill with ya when I touched down on the ride to Chi-town. I'm glad you got your zzz's on when I was talking. no wonder my kid falls asleep every time I chat with him, hehe. I was kind of surprised there wasn't a table in the Getaround for slogans, trying my best to keep the slogan conversation alive!
