So... my blog got deleted about this.

I wasnt able to read most of the comments, so if you posted them, please repost if you had said anything previously. Im trying to keep it all one color print, at least initially... but it is something Im flexible on so we'll see.

Thanks for any feedback I get.

Titz had asked to see a "wild" color option... so here it is:

Thanks guys n gals.

uh I'll take the wild card.

The virsions where its just a realistic face resemble what moms would wear to a craft show.

But thats just because its on a shirt also.

sorry for the bluntness.

the green one is just great!

ouch, craft show?! it's not needle point!

But I do enjoy the more... creative color palette. Perhaps that is the way to go with this potential sub. :)

PS: Bluntness is fine with me :)

Thanks, its a montage of a photo I took of these Asian dancers when I was on vacation in D.C. Paint & Canvas textures added in photoshop along with some tweaking etc to finish it off.

more more more more. That's all I want to see. I wonder what some turn of the century, cigarbox typography would look like with the line treatment....oh, was I thinking outloud? my bad.

I don't like that second version - far too much of the detail has been lost

maybe you should start a B&W contest now too, i think the new color is great and you should consider running the gamut with the new choice.

color gamut

Staff, its fair to assume that detail has been lost due to it being reduced in scale in photoshop. I dropped it down to 75% original scale to take up less room.

If you enjoy the colors more wild, it will have the original detail of the first one. (it does for me in illustrator).

It does, however, take on a more... sinister appearance (which I kind of like) when what used to be black lines become a lighter color... essentialy reversing the light and dark areas.

well especially with this green

True.

Titz when you say, run the gamut, are you refering to all kinds of colors for the img with all kinds of colors for background? Or do you really like that neon green and just want to see what it looks like on other options.
titz
titz on May 19 '06 at 9:19am
um, both? i meant come up with "all kinds of colors for the img with all kinds of colors for background" but you know what youre doing. thanks for pushing it.

Yeah, i didnt mean it has lost the detail necessarily, but it just gives that impression..

Either way, its an amazing technique, and the original drawing is beautiful.

youre totally right, this takes on new meaning with color

the scaled down versions remind me of old dot matrix printouts(wich is cool)

Thanks for that staffell :)

I still feel like it needs something a bit more... creative. I think when I get back to work on it I will be adding some more 'detail' line work.

Possibly, more viney organic lines which overlap and wrap around the image area... maybe differing textures. Im not sure yet really, but it does 'need something'.

If you have an idea guys, let me know lol.

I think if you used the original black and grey drawing and added some colour details, it could really spruce it up. I'm not sure rigt now as what to add though. You need to make it drastically different to this:

http://www.threadless.com/submission/52001/Lulu

If you want a chance at being printed I think. They are obviously very different, but there are definitely some similarities...

M.C. B.creative on May 19 '06 at 9:37am
Agreed about there being some similar elements.

I would like to make it more... graphic elements. Along the lines of what is in the link that bombshield had posted up above. Creative use of shapes & negative space, etc.

the link bomb posted is:

http://www.vault49.com/

so people dont have to scroll back up...

I kind of feel like it is currently just a 'nice' or 'pretty' image. I need to come up with a way to take it to that... next level & turn it into something more unique and interesting.

My designs

All about me

I am currently working on my Design degree - which focuses on Digital Media... that being, interactivity, motion graphics, 3D modeling & animation (and much more).

I'm always looking for new ways express myself through art, and recently, I have become interested in shirt design... stemming from that desire, I find myself here.

Thanks,
