This is so true. All that endless fiber they're downing. All those beans and meat substitutes (made of beans). Vegetarians cause global warming, if you know what I mean.

Have you really researched the effects of being vegetarian vs. not being vegetarian? Vegetarianism is much better for the environment. Factually.

I think the shirt is supposed to be a joke. Who the hell cares whether someone eats meat or not? You should just od what you want to do and let other people do the same.

i kind of dont get those people who refuse to eat animal products because of "cruelty"...when you cut a plant, it screams too! and instead of boycotting meat altogether, you can support the organically grown, cage free, and grain fed end of the business..which is the only kind of meat people should be buying anyways.

Hahah, actually, irresponsible meat production causes global warming!
Laborpsus
Laborpsus on Nov 18 '06 at 1:02pm
Even if I start practicing vegetarianism, it won't change how other people produce meat.

See, they've got free will too, y'know?
hadaloo
hadaloo on Nov 18 '06 at 1:05pm
Yeah but if enough people stop buying poorly farmed meat, either through supporting eco friendly producers or becoming vegetarian, there will be enough economic insentive to change farming productions. I mean, obviously cattle ranchers don't wake up in the morning thinking "Gee, how can I hurt the earth today?"; they're just responding to economic insentives. By changing the demand, you change the supply. Obv.
hadaloo

And by INSENTIVES, I meant INCENTIVES.

I tried being a vegan, but then we went to olive garden and my parents got cheese on the salad.

And I was hungry, but not too attached to being vegan.

So I stopped, but am still a vegetarian.

I would never "try" some sort of food eating lifestyle. If I wanted to become a vegan, I would just do it and not be a pussy because I was hungy. Just go "cold turkey" [LOLZORZ IRONYZZ]

Um, you need to be a lil' bit more realistic.

You're probably not gonna see that kind of conversion any time soon. ...preaching on a t shirt message board won't get you anywhere.
jackanapes
jackanapes on Nov 18 '06 at 1:13pm
i don't think hadley's preaching. she's just pointing something out. that doesn't necessarily equate with preaching.

You guys, it's not meat consumption that's the problem, it's the disregard for others, be they alive or in the future, that is. Meat is great, I love it, but irresponsible farming practices are reallllly bad.

????

i wouldn't call that a rant at all. she's doing exactly what i said she was: pointing something out. now, i don't know whether it's exactly true or not, but i certainly didn't annoy me or come off as "preachy" to me.
Laborpsus

hadaloo on Nov 18 '06 at 1:43pm
All I've ever said was to be considerate and responsible, I wouldn't classify that as a rant. I'm sorry you did. [PS Blue Barracudas greater than red tigers]
Laborpsus
Laborpsus on Nov 18 '06 at 1:46pm
Red Jaguars, actually.

...and, statistically, the 'cudas were not better.

Anyway, constantly whining about poor farming practices isn't really a good display of benevolence and responsibility. ...and, no, I don't think farmers are getting your message.

Now just drop this already...-_-
hadaloo
hadaloo on Nov 18 '06 at 1:49pm
No, you said I was whining, and that my argument is stupid and implied I was irresponsible, and also that I thought that what I was doing was making a difference. Plus, you annoy me, and I wasn't ranting.
Laborpsus
Laborpsus on Nov 18 '06 at 1:52pm
Turning this into semantics now, huh?

Once you've shown me evidence that you've directly altered meat production in this country, then I will drop my argument. Until then, you're an angsty high school teenager who feigns relevance.
hadaloo
hadaloo on Nov 18 '06 at 1:56pm
I'm not angsty, but I am in highschool, and I am a teenager. Relevancy is relative, and I don't think I've ever claimed to have directly altered meat production in this country. And if I had, I would have been lying through my teeth, as I thought I've made it quite clear that I never thought I was making much of a difference.
Laborpsus

All about me

I'm a freaky little farmkid from California who's worked every job from TV to animation to growing veg (nope - no marijuana, even though it's a big cash crop out here) and making shoes.
