It's difficult to make a movie for all ages, with a main character that says three words throughout the entire movie, and communicates to you in whistles and eye movements. It's difficult to make a movie that clearly has a large moral to the story, but still lets you leave with the feeling of knowing you've just seen one of the greatest films of all time. And it's difficult to make a movie that will move you to tears, simply because of how perfect the art is you have just witnessed.

WALL-E has accomplished all of this.

Said to be the last movie discussed at the now famous 1994 Pixar Lunch (along with Toy Story, A Bugs Life, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, and last, WALL-E) it has truly shown that good things come to those who wait.

This film is truly an epic, as the hero curious hero WALL-E and his clearly-based-off-of-an-ipod (pixar and steve jobs are butt buddies, what can you really do about it?) love interest Eve travel through space, all the while giving us a painfully true look at humankind in 700 years. The voice acting is hardly there, with what seemed to be under 100 words spoken the entire movie, and any words spoken by robots were made entirely through mechanical sounds, and it was done brilliantly.

The chemistry between the two main robots in the movie is some of the best I have ever seen between two anything, ever. I truly felt that they were in love, and they were animated robots on a movie.

The only thing that could possibly be said bad about this entire movie, was that it only clocked in at 103 minutes. I wanted a 3 hour movie, Pixar. 3 hours.

So far, Pixar has blown my mind with their movies that make all others (especially animated ones) look like chump films. Toy Story, Toy Story 2, A Bugs Life, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille, and now WALL-E. Up next we have UP and Toy Story 3. I can't wait.

Please, for the love of God, see this movie. 5/5, 10/10, A+, Two thumbs up, and a tear shed for beauty.

Movies with Larry the Cableman's voice in them don't count as movies. So, he was correct with leaving Cars out

Cars was my least favorite of all of them, and it is still absolutely incredible. Don't diss on Cars, the creator died before it could be finished and it still was great.

Cars was a boring annoying waste of time.

Everything else Pixar has made makes my life a little more complete. I am so jazzed to see this movie.

I haven't seen Cars, so I'm not dissing on it.
I'm just saying that I don't consider anything with Larry the Cableman in them to be forms of entertainment.
LOLZ! Get Her Done! I don't care who you's is, dat's funny! (insert jokes about britches, underbritches, and farts now)

I agree with the Larry the Cable Guy part, but he's actually not bad in that movie. It's just his voice, not his jokes, remember that.

And FRICKINAWESOME, I couldn't agree with you any more if you had said I hate Nazi's. Dreamworks sucks worse than a hooker with two mouths.

wall-e was (and this is coming from a pretty jaded moviegoer) probably one of the best movies I've ever seen.

The only thing I'll disagree with is wanting three hours of it... The pacing was a little slow as it was, but it worked. Any longer and it might have been a little too A.I., where you keep thinking the movie's about to end and it just keeps going.

Out of curiosity, in what order would you rank the Pixar films?

Halfway through, my little girl said "okay, I'm done watching this movie". I was NOT about to walk out. I pulled her close and convinced her to stay. I think the music was just a little dark for her to understand. I loved it though, and she was fine once in my lap. I'll add this to my Disney/Pixar collection when it comes out on video for sure!

in order, Wall-E, Ratatouille, Monsters Inc., Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Finding Nemo, A Bugs Life, The Incredibles, Cars

That was a very, very, very difficult list to make.

Just came back from it. Loved it, thought it finally got Pixar back on track. The only problem i had with the entire flick was how WallE got his memory back. Such a cop-out after never taking the cheap way out with her just touching him and it all comes back. I thought it was an interesting twist that his circuit-board was his soul and made him different from every other WallE robot littering the side of the road from all his experiences. And then it didn't matter. A mar on an otherwise awesome movie.

A list for Pixar flicks is a good idea, mine's a bit different from yours:

The Incredibles: One of my favorite movies period, not just Pixar!
A Bug's Life
Toy Story
Finding Nemo
Toy Story 2
Monsters Inc

Even my "least" favorite Monsters Inc would still get like a B to a B+, so least is relative.

Cars: Ugh, didn't care for this one at all. Good message tho.

N/A: Ratatouille: Didn't see it, doesn't look very appealing to me, but i love Patton Oswalt and I've heard good things.

Plus, LOVED "presto" the short before it as well...totally Looney Toons-y and wonderful.

Also, it's amazing how much animated bullshit they advertised before this movie and how different and awe-inspiring the movie was compared to that nonsense (Ice Age 18, Madagascrap 36, etc).
FRICKINAWESOME

Oh whoops, and WallE lol....I'd put it between Toy Story and Finding Nemo....really great stuff it was.
shakethesheets
shakethesheets on Jun 29 '08 at 5:39pm
Toy Story
A Bug's Life
Monster's Inc
Wall-E
Toy Story 2 (I can't believe the people that say it's better than the first. Still a good movie, though)
Finding Nemo

I thought Nemo was still cute and all but it's not the great movie everyone acts like it is. It's also been forced upon me multiple times so that probably adds to the distaste. The rest I haven't seen.

Agree with you on the memory bit, Evan, but I don't think it mattered too much... It's believable that it took him a minute or so to warm up after all the changes, but you make a valid point on the circuitry. Hmm. I'll suspend my disbelief for the robots in love, though. :)

Haven't seen Wall-E yet.

From what I've seen the order goes from best to worst:

The Incredibles
Toy Story
Monsters Inc.
Finding Nemo
Ratatouille
Toy Story 2
Cars
A Bug's Life (Antz was better.)

Puterboy, I couldn't agree more with your assesment of Cars.

And i couldn't disagree any more with your comment on Bug's Life! first off, Antz was a brownish-blurrily animated nightmare with a decent commentary on the dangers of group-thought, but didn't have any compelling characters to me and is nothing compared to the amazing bunch of creatures that populated Bug's Life and its exciting plot (very Seven Samarai-ish)....plus it's the first animated movie to do the flub-ups during the credits!

A Bug's Life was my fav until Incredibles came along and re-defined wihat i think is epic and awesome and heart-warming within the confines of a family movie. Seriously, the fight scenes are so pulse-pounding and choreographed so well in that flick. And the family unit of freaks works together so well.

Getting back to Bug's Life, I think it's way uinderrated in the pantheon of Pixar and Moinsters Inc being a bit overrated but still fun.

thanks for this review.

i love that pixar is trying to create movies with a message
a lot better than most of the animated crap thats out for kids [and adults] right now. they always think outside the box and i really appreciate that about the company

I agree textlike. Man, the preview before the flick with Madagascar 2 with them all singing some random dance song from the 90's is sooooooo fucking tired! Okay, so Shrek finished off the movie with a nostalgic song that had all the characters dancing funny-like, so now every copycat needs to do the same fucking thing? grrrr.....i really think i haven't seen a wholeheartedly fulfilling computer animated that wasn't Pixar-made.

Can anyone point me to an example of non-pixar goodness im forgetting?

Over the Hedge was amusing but in no way amazing.

Toy Story
Finding Nemo
Toy Story 2
Ratatouille
The Incredibles
A Bugs Life
Cars

I might change my mind about that later. I loved them all muchos, except Cars, which I didn't like at allll.

Toy Story (BEST full length pixar movie)
Toy Story 2
Monsters Inc
For The Birds (pixar short)
Ratatouille
Jack-Jack Attack (pixar short)
Finding Nemo

Cars
Knick Knack (pixar short)

Incredibles
TS2
Toys Story
Bug's Life
Finding Nemo
Monsters, Inc.

I have yet to see cars or ratatouille. or, obvy, Wall-E, but have a feeling that will be near incredible(s)

Yeah Rolf, Presto is SO GOOOOD.

But FA, how can you deny the intensity in Antz? The giant termite vs. Antz epic battle scene where the termites are giant and spit acid spit and rip apart and eat the Antz. And the Antz are all like ganging up on them, but they are losing cause there are too many termites. And then Woody Allen is knocked out, and he wakes up and its all foggy. And the black guy ant is all half dead, with his face on the ground but he is still alive, and he says something in his soulful black ant voice, and then dies. I think I must've cried out my eyes and my wee wee ten fold.

The only thing that bothered me about this movie was that it had live-action people in it during some parts. They just seemed so out-of-place. Maybe they did it to show how much people had changed over so long a period, but it still looked weird to me.

Otherwise it was a great movie.
