Score! followup

I've mashed up ideas from the comments on my previous post as well and some ideas that have been seen roaming around Threadless HQ.

This doesn't mean we're doing everything on this list or that we won't do things that aren't on the list. But it's a start. If you have comments, drop 'em below.

I'll be back with some more topics and I'll update as this stuff moves forward.

Basic Scoring Interface:
- Remove "I'd buy it"
- Add labels/explanations for each score level (see: newgrounds.com - thanks @[+duracell-] )
+ Love It / Like It / Meh. / Needs Work / That's a no
+ explore alternate levels/labels(?)
- test removal of zero level
- Explore additional ways to sort (or order)
- test presentation order other than date
- allow sort view to continue on sub page previous/next (or PowerScore)
+ like flickr sets vs. stream?
- about to end
- Highest rated
- Low total number of votes
- category/theme/tag

PowerScore Interface:
- People love it, let's set it loose
- finish/polish/address bugs
- Allow commenting without leaving PowerScore
- Treatment of Flash

New Scoring Locations:
- iPhone/iPad
- Mobile-optimized site
+navigation on touch devices (no hover)
- Desktop widget

Sub Acceptance:
Consider...
- being more selective on posted subs
- having two rounds of voting
- multiple decline levels
- drop subs into critique
- be clearer about dropped subs
- increase threshold for dropping subs?

Keep 'em voting
- Encourage Alumni voting
- Offer voting incentives
+total scored
+scoring "accuracy"

After voting closes
- Show score distribution?
- Don't show % on slogans

if you show score distribution after voting is over, i think maybe only the designer should be allowed to see it

Don't show % on slogans other than to the writer of the slogan and TL of course.

Also, the avility to sort slogans or place slogans in the slogan page in different ways,

Oh and also, A WAY TO DELETE SLOGANS PERMANENTLY WHERE YOU CAN DO MULTIPLE ONES AT ONCE!

delete multiple slogans would be aces

/have them actually disappear:

in the my submissions page, slogans I've deleted 'forever' and that don't show on my Tless profile slogan tab, still show :(

interesting stuff, I like dropping drops to critique, thats a good idea...if the critique forum can become more progressive and refined, this is a great idea to take a negative thing (being dropped doesn't feel good I imagine) and make it semi positive

I've heard that some people find flash really annoying, so maybe have an option where you only view non-flash designs. You have to submit a non-flash presentation anyways, even if you submit flash, so you'll still be able to score every design.

HOLY BALLZ! I'm loving what I'm seeing on this blog so far!

I'll reiterate what Nestor and Evan have already pointed out...it would be swell to be able to SORT our slogans...maybe an instant sort option for, say, HIGHEST SCORING to LOWEST SCORING??

I'd like to add to the "drop subs into critique" line that alongside the normal scoring process, there should be a further option for people to click whether they think the design has potential to be printable or if they think no manner of work will help it.

I'm liking this for the most part.

I think removing "I'd buy it" is a good idea, it just seemed irrelevant. But I think you should still keep the "as a print" option.

What do you mean by voting incentives? Like a rank for how much you've voted? And special stickers or something?

I think a few of these things deserve a blog of their own for better discussion.

I do like the sort of system where you're more voting for a design if you like it, instead of often feeling like you're voting against designs because you don't like them when you're scoring them low.

removal of zero level

I think zero should stay. For stolen artwork submitted, and for offensive stuff, most of all. Also, given that the scoring system is pretty much subjective, I like to throw in a few zeroes once in a while. You can't deny that some subs, while not stolen nor offensive, show zero amount of work/effort.

I don't think there's anything wrong with "i'd buy it". it makes for a more honest appraisal of the design's popularity as a t-shirt.

I'd like to see something more along the lines of newgrounds system. Where if you score something high, and it gets selected you get more weight to your opinion (Also, if you score something low, and it gets rejected, your opinion gains more weight. If the scored sub is average it does nothing to the weight of your scoring)
Does that make sense? I am having a hard time explaining it.
The problem I've seen pop up now and then is someone who goes around and gives a bunch of subs 0 despite how good the design is.
