your average score is a lot higher than most people i know! including me. so don't feel bad if you score how you think is right.

my average is 1.64... and it used to be a lot lower.

mine used to be a lot lower, too. but then i stopped giving out so many 0's when most bad things can scrape a 1 for trying, so mine popped up a bit.

when the amount of subs you've scored gets high enough the average becomes nearly impossible to change. There's no way I'd be able to make a big change to my average.

i like my average score
becuase it's average on scale of 0-5
which, even when it's shit, unless it took zero talent, is probably average. there's only 8-10 designers that consistently rock my world.

If you look closely, you'll find that average scores go down as the subs voted goes up. I think most regular users dip below 2.

yeah that's not low. I give 5s and 0s. that's pretty much it. and my average score is 1.44 or something like that.

i have a low average because I score a lot of shirts and to tell you the truth, the bulk of the submissions just dont cut it for me. That is why not everyone wins. Here's my scoring scale:

$5 - Very well done and appeals to my taste
5 - Great illustration or concept or both
$4 - Okay execution, but I'd buy if it was printed
4 - Nicely done, but needs a little more
$3 - More work could have been put into it, but I'd buy it based on concept
3 - It's getting there, but needs more
$2 - Better than a 1, but I'd only buy on concept alone
2 - Looks decent, but not enough to be a winner
$1 - Concept is great, but it could have been done in like 5 seconds
1 - Not that great, but it needs a lot better execution
$0 - I have only given this out once
0 - I reserve these for things that seem to have no effort put into it.

Ism 88 - I wish everyone used the scale like you. I don't think most voters put much thought into it and just 5 it or 0 it.

yeah, if there is artistic value to the design, but it doesnt look good on the shirt, i wont give it a zero just because I wont buy it. Thats what the I'd Buy it is for

when i score, i give scores all they way from zero to five and everywhere in between.

We have the exact same average score, and I'm an excellent Threadless rater.

Mine's lower than that...but I haven't scored any subs in a while, I wouldn't say I'm harsh either!

so the moral of the story is that your average score doesnt matter as long as you score honestly and fairly

mine is 3.43, because i skip a lot of desings..i dont rate zeros, i only rate the ones i think are some worthy and the ones that are just awesome

I can't remember which design it was

But yeah, one more thing about how I score. If I see that a design has a minor mistake that needs to be fixed, I still score it as if it was fixed. The way I see it is that if the design wins anyways, it can easily be fixed before it goes into printing. I hate it when people say things like

"Oh, change the color of blah blah blah, 3 for now until its changed"

as if they will be there to score again if you resubmit. I just say that people need to use better judgement and logic when scoring subs.
