Wasn't quite sure what to call this... but looking at the design, the sum of every symbol represents a common ideology, despite the different traditions they originate from, hence the title.
![]() LARGE preview Symbology, with its uses and meanings within different traditions, really intrigues me and consequently this was inspired by readings about a variety of different symbolic references from, but not limited to, Alchemy, Wiccan, Pagan, Egyptian, Masonic, Norse (Asatru) and African traditions. You may notice that main frame work is the "Squaring the Circle": an alchemical glyph (17th c.) of the creation of the Philosopher's Stone - the top hemisphere representing the spiritual world, the bottom representing the material world. Looking closer you may recognise many more symbols that make up the image, including the Eye of Providence, pentacle flower, ouroboros (serpent eating its tail), and elemental symbols, to mention a few. It's surprising to learn just how many traditional symbols are strewn throughout society without us realizing it. This is just a little tribute to the underlying traditions, philosophies and meanings that often go unnoticed. ![]() about Surfer's Paradise
Well this certainly took a long time coming!Ironically the title of this design is a massive contradiction to the real life "Surfers Paradise" on the Gold Coast, Australia. This illustration spurred from a little day dream of what I wished the real Surfers Paradise was - kept pure, green and natural rather than the Aussie Miami concrete jungle it has become. This one is for all the surfers, beach bums and nature lovers at heart. PS: a big thanks to Ross for his drunken incompetence!
Got a little design ready for subbing, but just wanted to get some opinions and perhaps suggestions before I send it away.
This is something a bit different to my usual stuff... spurred on from a fellow Threadless-er, EricDiaz's request for me to put his idea on to paper. The idea - "You're Toast" - a community about to be flamed by a massive piece of toast. Hah... ![]() Check out the larger preview here Cheers!
Hello 2008. Hope everyone enjoyed their holidays and celebrated accordingly. My girlfriend and I made it to Melbourne in the end and had a wicked time. Cheers to those who parted with some local advice.
Figured I'd get more suggestions, on a different matter however. Just recently done a few sketches... two of them being the following... ![]() ![]() Was wondering what you folk think of them in terms of being applied to a t-shirt. Does it tickle your fancy? Or perhaps it's not really Threadless's style? Let me know your thoughts. ![]() (update! subbed it for the hell of it.) ![]() ![]() Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Cheers.
As usual, my girlfriend Em and I have been disorganised, having no plans for New Years, so we have spontaneously decided to go to Melbourne.
Em has never been. I haven't been in... 15 years? Basically never. So I am hoping some Melbourne folk on here might be able to shout out a few suggestions and what not for us. Anything we shouldn't miss? Anything we should? What's going down on New Years? Any sort of insight would be moooost appreciated. :-)
Well I certainly have remained consistent... 4th sub in a row to score in the 2.1's. Either the median dropped heaps in the past several months or my subs just aren't making enough impact on the Threadless psyche.
I'm having fun making them anyway. Happy to see a bunch of you enjoy them as well. :-) ![]() click here for LARGER PREVIEW
If you heard this little bugger, he'd say, "hey everyone, let's stop solving things for a while and take a walk in the park."
Thought I'd try something a little different for me. Let me know what you think! :-) ![]() Coloured - ![]() Just red - ![]() CLICK HERE for larger view of detail.
Hey now!
Check out my sub for the Mae comp and let me know what you think. Cheers. ![]() click here for LARGER PREVIEW |
