If it's free, everybody puts in all kind of crap and it ruins it for everyone because nobody can actually even look at all the slogans. If you have to pay, then you only put in slogans you think might win. It is like if there is a field in the center of town, and it's free to let your goat eat the grass, everyone will bring their goat down there and the grass will be ruined for everyone. But if you have to pay to have your goat on the field, just enough people bring their goat there, and everything works out. The field is just like the slogans.

I read about that in an economics book. It's called the tragedy of the commons. I think it's just regular economics. In the book, it was in a place where one economist was arguing that you didn't need any governments, and the other economist was saying yes you do, if you don't have a government then all the goats eat the grass.

the number of slogans should be regulated. (When I was new.. I typed EVERY crazy idea in my mind, even if it doesn't make sense, hoping I would be lucky to be chosen)

BUT hey, it's survival of the fittest (or wittiest?). So, if the # of slogans are regulated, people would consciously put only their best slogans.

i usually click the person's name under the slogan and rate all his/her slogans at once, much faster and effective =P
