doing a Ph.D?
Ok, this blog is going to be a bit random.......

Is there anybody out there who is from the UK, but is doing a Ph.D in America?
If so, how hard was it to get on the course? how much is it costing you? Where are you doing it? what are you doing it in?
Of couse, any Americans doing their PhDs in America can also comment. Do you have any insights into the policies of your university with regards to foreign students?

a lot of ph.d. programs pay stipends and tuition, regardless of where a person's from. what area are you in?

yeah, i heard about that. i just got a bit scared by a tale of a friend who is doing a masters in psychology in new york, and it's costing him $35.000 per year. but i guess Ph.D's are different.

My field is zoology.

hmm, i don't know about zoology, but pretty much all the sciences give money.



master's programs are a totally different story, you're expected to pay or get a scholarship.



anyway, look around on websites of schools/programs you're interested in - that information should be available.
