I am just having one of those days at work...I need to rant. And Threadless seemed like a good place to rant. If you don't like it, then read another blog and SUCK IT!...hard...

To start, let's just get it out there. I don't think I'm like the GREATEST graphic designer in the world, but atleast I'm a professional and know the difference between bad design, good design, and know how to set things up so they print well, ect. In otherwords, atleast I know the basics+ some.

So, my rant begins here.

WHY THE FUCK DOES EVERYONE THINK THEY ARE A FUCKING GRAPHIC DESIGNER THESE DAYS?!?!?!!??!

I work for a printing company as a graphic designer. I'd say 50% of my time is spent actually doing graphic design and ATLEAST 50% of my time is spent fixing people's work so that it prints correctly or so that it doesn't look like a 7 year old did it. I understand that some people don't give 2 shits what their final product looks like and I understand that we are in a recession so people don't want to spend money on design but where is the line? My biggest problem is, people get a computer that comes with a trial version of Photoshop Elements and they figure out how to do a few layer styles and throw a lense flare on something and they think WELL GOD DAMN! I RULE! WHO NEEDS A GRAPHIC DESIGNER!?

My answer to all the douchebags who think that is....YOU DO. Mother fucker....YOU DO.

This is the business card that just set me off:

First of all, it sucks. Second, it came in as a fucking jpg...genius. Looks like the "logo" (if that's what you'd call that hideous thing) is crooked. The fact that it is low resolution wasn't enough...so they sent it in with a border on it. And the coolest part is, it's not even setup at the standard business card size of 2" x 3.5", that and the words are basically right on the cut line.

So I actually had to recreate this whole card and take time out of my day because "we can't lose customers"....yeah, what a loss it would be if the Mars Company with the worst business cards on earth decided to go someplace else....

AND END RANT.

I am reworking a design right now for someone and they use the font "Tarzana", narrow, narrow bold, and narrow italic.
I can't find it anywhere and of course they don't have it...

If anyone has it that would be super awesome!!!! I'll bake you cookies and send them to you in the mail.

So...a few hours ago, as I was driving home from work at like 5pm, my car was smashed into from behind while I was completely stopped on a highway. The traffic had come to a stand still and the guy behind me apparently wasn't paying attention at all and hit me going about 40 mph as I was completely stopped. I then smashed into the car infront of me too...a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe. The lady infront of me had just got her car on Tuesday.
My car's front end is all smashed in and the hood was bent the hell up cause my car slid under the SUV infront of me. I drive a little Ford Escort. Well, I DID. It's most likely totaled. I'll find out tomorrow. Atleast I didn't die I guess :D

I'm an idiot and locked my keys in my car as I got out of it today after coming back from work.
Just curious how much you paid...I think I just got totally scammed.
I made a stupid mistake of not asking how much it would be before he opened it and it ended up being $125. I have a car with no alarm, and he literally spent less than a minute opening it....wtf.

I mean, I understand they are running a business and everything, but...$125 for less than 15 mins of work including the drivetime? Come on...breaking my window would have almost been cheaper.

Also, when I went to write the check he told me to make it out directly to him, not to the company. I might have to call them tomorrow and see what their policy on that is...seems a bit shady.

So...I had an interesting morning. I can't even make this up...

I was really drunk last night. I was at a karaoke bar rockin the tunes with the kidz! Came home, and apparantly I decided that making a pizza sounded like a good idea.

Well, it was such a good idea that I obviously didn't even care about eating it right after I put it in. I woke up to my smoke alarms in my apartment all going batshit Just loud as hell! My entire place was a cloud of smoke. I was still obvioulsy drunk, and very very confused. Not the ideal situation to be in.
So I opened all the windows up, turned off the oven, and the god damn alarms still wouldn't go off. So, I see they have an area for batteries. I think OK! I'll take out the batteries. ...great idea huh? Well, they are hardwired too I guess. The god damn things still wouldn't go off!
So, quick thinking as I'm wasted and thinking about how my neighbors probably hate me....I grab a fan and turn on my over head fan! I pointed the fan at them all till they went off. After the panic eased away, I checked my watch. "5:30" it read. I think my alarms had been going off for a while....my neighbors might actually want to murder me.

Here's the Pizza:
