and the select tees are a new thing and considering its "Real" designers as apposed to the hacks* on here, they should at least reflect that. they have been crap since they started it. and i dont think its fair they shouldnt have to go through the same voting process as us.
Monkey--This design didn't go through the "selection process." It is "Select," but not "selected."
Also: I DO NOT LIKE THIS DESIGN SO CLEARLY THREADLESS IS IN AN UNCONTROLLABLE DOWNWARD SPIRAL OF SUCH GREAT PROPORTIONS THAT IT WILL THROW OFF THE ORBIT OF THE EARTH AND SEND US HURTLING INTO THE SUN.
its like this, style in design is so subjective. for every person who totally despises this design, there is another who digs it. i for one love it. being a poster designer, this reeks of vintage screen printing. the colors the layout, everything is on point. so i think people need to get over themselves and realize that there opinion is just that, an opinion. threadless will print what it wants.
i hate blogs like this.. nobody gives a fuck if YOU don't like a shirt.... it got printed for a reson.. grab a tissue and cry about it elsewhere..please..for the love of God...
let me start off by saying most of my designs are shit.. and the votes reflect that. if you see something redeeming in this select tee, then thats cool but Im curious to see how it would have done with the voting.
and the idea that "threadless will print what it wants" goes against everything this site was founded on. if they want to just start printing/selling ($25!?) crap that they want then they are no different from the Gap.
kitchen.. read my above post.. "for a reason" ... what reason? ...because "The Man" said so? fuck that.. if it was voted on and won then I'd be less apt to bitch. well, i'd probably bitch anyway but thats not the point. the point is, these "Select" tees are supposed to be held up to a higher standard and end up kind of sucking.. and I know im not alone in thinking that.
I've vaguely liked a couple of the select designs, though not enough to buy them. On the other hand, I feel that way about the majority of shirt that Threadless prints. Every once in a while, they come out with a gem I have to have. That's why I'm here.
On average, the select designs are more towards the "This is cool" end of the spectrum for me. It's also exciting to see completely new designs come out. I vote on most of the submissions that come through, so it's a cool surprise to see the Select design each week.
So, yeah. Should I "have to have" the next Select, I'll certainly buy it—just like I would buy any other threadless tee that really struck me. It's, what, an eight dollar price difference? Not a big deal if you dig the shirt.
I'd pay $25 dollars for any Select tee before I would pay $17 (or $15) for Adultery, 'Splainin to do, or FitA.
i havent bought a select tee yet, until i saw this one, not that i think its top notch or anything, i guess i just liked the colors and how it looks...
yes, the select tees do still have a sense of design and that surprise factor. but still, its the designer's choice on what to do with a select tee. and 5 months is nothing. plus I still believe that threadless chooses well in the designers for select tees.
the select tees are also designed by artists that threadless have chosen that arent necessarily well known on threadless, but are given exposure. The whole list is here
i love this shirt, and i bought it, and usually i am the picky asshole who hates every shirt they come out with every week. Stop the hate threads. We need to be hate thread-less. Get it? Aw fuck it, I like the shirt anyway.
I woudlnt rag on him for posting his opinion. Alot of people would agree which is fine, and many disagree. The only way threadless is going to know if they are hitting the right cord with people is by comments and sales. So simmer down! =)
personally i dont' see what is appealing about this shirt at all! but hey! not everyone has to like everything - if we did, we'd all be wearing the exact same shirts :)
but nonetheless...i dunno if i'm missing something with this one or what...i like the style of the hands but they don't seem to go well with the skull y'know?
