its not a statement on the designer as much as it is a statement about the people who voted for it, and threadless for printing it.

there are a ton of crappy subs that never get printed, rightly so. but there are also a bunch of good ones that never see the light of day.

if i dont like something I score it low, and expect everyone else will do the same. I dont hate the designer, i dont hate the sub, i just think the designer will take threadless' advice and try again.

but when these get printed it makes me upset, and confused that enough people voted for it.

maybe i'm all alone in my opinions. but sometimes i am not. a lot of subs that score low (hey threadless no one likes this!) and it still gets printed. ?

and again, my opinions toward subs and threadless have nothing to do with my work on here.

thats my rant. whatever. i think im gonna take another break from this site. see you in a few months.

Flowers in the Attic is one of my least favorite designs on the site. I just think it's not very good and I'd never wear it. Am in a minority? Yup. It's all an opinion, so big deal.

Everyone has different opinions of good or not. I can guarentee you that I can find beauty in ANY submission. If it's not that good there is a person behind that submission trying to learn... try having some compassion you prick.

Kirk - seems like you're having a little trouble latching onto this basic and eternal truth:

Not everyone likes what you like.

I know, I know, you're an artist... you have special insight... blah blah blah.

Look, if the throngs of 13 year old girls that make up the foundation of the voting don't agree with you on what is artistically pleasing, take it as a compliment. You are naive if you think that serious designers and artists make up the bulk of the voters. In fact, I know a lot of them don't even bother with new subs anymore.

That's my rant. Hope to see you around here.

I agree with your post.. but if someone doesn't like a piece of work..that gets printed or not..then they don't have to be rude or belittle the person...just move on.. you know. :)
kirksheltonart
kirksheltonart on Jul 25 '06 at 10:46am
I'm not belittling the person, im belittling the threadless voting community and the powers that print subs.

mindtrace, I do have compassion, i even said it in my post. im not pissed people are still learning, im pissed that threadless prints that stuff.

and i am pissed that 13 yr olds vote on here and screw up the curve.

its not fair, its not right but it is what it is. majority rules... wait.. no it doesnt sometimes. low scored subs win still

fuck. everyone thinks i'm a dick now.

every once in while threadless prints something that they know will sell and have broad appeal. this usually pisses of people that think threadless needs to always be some obscure shirt site that prints stuff you'd never see anywhere else...but that line is getting blurred everywhere....and it's not our busines to run, is it?
WallsReallyWork
WallsReallyWork on Jul 25 '06 at 10:54am
thats why low scoring subs still get printed, the voting curve has gone down, and for more design-y shirts to get high scores is very hard because of all the new voters. therefore, threadless will print whatever the fuck they want, and that good, cause then good subs that may be fucked over by the oters still have a chance and people who like those kind of subs have a chance to get them still.

Being an artist yourself, I find it hard to believe that you think there's only one aesthetic. Things you like are 'good' in your mind, but that doesn't make them universally appealing to all. And vice versa.

You don't like the select tees, don't like the regular tees... Why would you hang around a forum of a website that sells products you don't like? Seems like a waste of time. Go support something you care about!

For the most part I agree with you. I do not have a high opinion of the voting around here.
