I've been getting teeshirts from Threadless for about a year or so, and to be frank i haven't really found any new designs that i would wear. There have been some excellent submission and i'm wondering where did they go? i guess this just an observation. There is A LOT of Talent on this website but in my opinion its not making the cut. any one else, agree or disagree?

i totally agree... alot of recent prints really aren't very Threadlessy

the SELECTS are priceless

alot of great submissions become lost amongst the massive amount of crappy/sub-par designs... that seem to be winning constantly.

Where have all the good Tees gone?

Directly up your bum. You bum-shirt-stuffing freak.

the only good one is the select

i think these blanket statements are going to cause some of us printed artists a bit of frustration.
chelly
chelly on Jan 29 '07 at 1:00pm
wow, that's pretty insulting to the artists who worked hard on their designs and got printed
steve_swartz

Gold Rush and Nature's Balance from this week....
Limb from last week (but why white???)....
Bottlenecked and Sailing the High Trees from the week before....
The Captain's Dream....
And then like xiv said, lots of great selects....
ambientcity
ambientcity on Jan 29 '07 at 1:02pm
you guys, the artists who got printed don't expect everyone to love their prints, so why do you?
valorandvellum
   valorandvellum on Jan 29 '07 at 1:02pm
xiv, that's just your opinion. Personally, I saw a couple of shirts I would buy right now... slaterock/ste7en's and cbuchholz's come to mind first.

I don't get what kind of shirts you guys are even wanting. Food with faces? Something punny?

the reprints are sweet this week, but i don't like some of the new ones.

Probably something that fits easier up their bums.

well, i think i'm referring to this biness:

Are you kidding me? Did you even look at the ones that came out this week?

"the only good one is the select"

i would be fine with an "in my opinion, the only good one is the select". But when you make a statement like the one you actually did make, you're attempting to speak for EVERYONE.

valorandvellum
   valorandvellum on Jan 29 '07 at 1:05pm
Honestly though, what shirts did you guys used to buy that you loved so much? why aren't the new ones fitting the bill?

Enh, I understand that things may not be to your taste sometimes, but these "Things were so much better way back when" blogs get kind of tiresome. They always provoke the same sorts of discussion, yet Threadless continues selling shirts. I don't think the quality of what has been released has changed much... people just seem to want to hold on to their nostalgic notions about how things were when they first discovered Threadless, blah blah blah
lemonalle
lemonalle on Jan 29 '07 at 1:08pm
Also: I absolutely love three of the prints this week (especially Nature's Balance!)
valorandvellum
   valorandvellum on Jan 29 '07 at 1:08pm
Haha, Montro.

I was actually really pleased with this week's variety. I thought there was something for everyone.
Aristarchus
Aristarchus on Jan 29 '07 at 1:10pm
I would argue that the quality of art has improved a great deal around here. Look at the great new work by guys like Travis, and all of the wonderful new stuff by fellows like Huebucket and Bucholtz. I mean, fuck, the scores on the latter two are almost always above three.

Now if you'd just stop stuffing them up your bums...

IMO i only liked slaterock/ste7en and the select. the rest are too cutesy, once again IMO
ambientcity
ambientcity on Jan 29 '07 at 1:10pm
Obviously there was not something for everyone; as slaterock said, "attempting to speak for everyone" ..you're committing the same fallacy, right?
ekaj47
ekaj47 on Jan 29 '07 at 1:11pm
i dont get why they print some stuff huge and some stuff seems too small, i think the cbuchholz shirt could have been printed much larger

You just reminded me of that Paula Cole song. . .

I'm enjoying the prints this week.
slaterock
   slaterock on Jan 29 '07 at 1:13pm
i agree that there are lots of designs that get overlooked and should be printed. I was just thinking, how would people react if Threadless wasn't set up where you could see all of the designs submitted, but only the ones up for sale? would there be as much controversy?
ambientcity
ambientcity on Jan 29 '07 at 1:13pm
great use of quotation marks

but you're missing the point

you and desah are making the same mistake by attempting to speak for everyone, that's the point
valorandvellum
   valorandvellum on Jan 29 '07 at 1:14pm
Good point, slaterock. Then they may as well take away the blogs too. Then there would be zero controversy!
ambientcity

what's good at the moment is that some of the design Threadless isn't printing are being printed by the artist themselves

valorandvellum
   valorandvellum on Jan 29 '07 at 1:17pm
Maybe I'm not understanding what you're saying, ambiencity. I said that (in my opinion) there was something for everybody. Obviously I was wrong because of the very creation of this blog.
valorandvellum
   valorandvellum on Jan 29 '07 at 1:18pm
When did I ever mention blowing someone??? What?? Haha.
ambientcity
ambientcity on Jan 29 '07 at 1:18pm
yes, that's what i'm saying, that you were wrong about there being something for everyone, except i'm not saying it to be bitchy or mean, i'm just saying that obv there isn't something for everyone

hence the blog...
Raid71
   Raid71 on Jan 29 '07 at 1:21pm
is there a 'Threadlessy' user guide I can read?, it's a pain having to think of new ideas... if only it was written that if you wanted to get printed just sub this with that and in this colour
lemonalle
lemonalle on Jan 29 '07 at 1:22pm
Was there ever something for everyone in a given week? Hence the pointlessness of this blog.
ambientcity
ambientcity on Jan 29 '07 at 1:24pm
in my opinion, something threadlessy is "my pet human", as opposed to "sex sells"

but that's just my opinion
valorandvellum

the designs lately have been very good. i don't particularly want to buy any of them (which is fine with me, because i've been spending too much money lately) , but they're very good.

ill agree that there hasnt been too much that ive wanted to buy as of late but I also know that sooner or later there will be people get too whiny about this issue I mean seriously ... "OH NOs I cant buy another shirt this week" .. I think youll manage just wait it out I have only bought reprints in teh past 8 months and you dont hear me whining

Polyester Jones on Jan 29 '07 at 1:36pm
I think lately there's been a lot of bunny rabbits...and things with round faces that vaguely resemble the Pillsbury Doughboy...not just printed, but in the subs in general...

sorry. NOW let's watch this die.
