So I got my I Heart Threadless tee in the mail today, and I have to say the new sizing SUCKS! Who decided the girly sizes? Here's what it looks like, and compared to my favorite fitting Threadless shirt, Damn Scientists:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Ande here's I Heart Threadless on top of Damn Scientists (I know, hot shirt on shirt action... and if you care, I'm shirtless)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I know Damn Scientists may have been stretched a little, and I have never ever put it in he dryer--but it is a full 3" wider than I Heart Threadless, and the sleeves are almost 1" longer and over 1" wider.

Lame lame lame. Whoever is in charge of this needs to make the Girly XL at least 2" wider!!

Love,
Poofie

i compared my girly xl i ♥ threadless to other brand new girly xl tees i got in the same order and it is definitely way smaller! :(

Try Guys Mediums.

They're much bigger than the FOTL Guys medium.

I just got my guy's large today. I'll try it on in a bit and blog it, but it looks good at a glance.

pyr4lis on Dec 06 '06 at 6:00pm
I won't buy a guys shirt either.. totally unflattering on girls. From all the photos I've seen of the new girly shirts ALL sizes are significantly smaller than the already small AA sizes. And thats a very bad thing. I do like the more feminine contour at the waist the new shirts have though. I just hope they make them a bit bigger to compare more correctly to the AA sizes and longer as I've heard that no only do they run short but once washed they get even shorter.
flourpower
flourpower on Dec 06 '06 at 6:01pm
I'm actually glad that they fit tighter around the middle now, because mine are always oddly baggy there and but too short/narrow everywhere else. But I'm not a fan of what looks like a ) ( shape to the cut...those never fit me right. I have a friend who wears XL, and I have a feeling that she's going to have issues with the new fit.
pyr4lis
pyr4lis on Dec 06 '06 at 6:25pm
See I like the ) ( shape in the cut.. thats what brings it in and fit tighter around the middle and allows for more chest room. It just looks like the new shirts cut needs to be refined. Maybe it's just a matter of making the shirts longer so the ) ( curve is more gradual. Also, shorter tighter sleeves is a really bad thing unless the wearer has got super toned arms.

mrs. squid on Dec 06 '06 at 6:30pm
Well great, this pretty much means I'm fucked. The AA xl just barely fit me. There is no way the new shirts will fit me. Guess I won't be buying anymore shirts from here.
flourpower
flourpower on Dec 06 '06 at 6:36pm
Well, as you said, that shape is fine if it's gradual, but right now it's really sudden...I have some shirts that curve that dramatically, and they look bizarre on me -- they fit snugly until the hips, then suddenly have weird poofs of extra material.

my girly large doesnt fit bad on me. i will have to comapre it to my other shirts though.

Wow does it shloom in the middle like that all the time?
hadaloo
hadaloo on Dec 06 '06 at 6:49pm
And by shloom, I mean, is it concave?

Also, is it shorter?

These new shirts terrify me.

hadaloo on Dec 06 '06 at 6:52pm
No I meant the new shirts. My problem with the girls shirts is that they taper at the bottom which is wicked silly, because I have hips and a waist, so it's baggy where I'm little and it's tight where I'm big. Oh and they are way too short.
mrs. squid
mrs. squid on Dec 06 '06 at 6:58pm
And to think that I had hope that they might start making 2x shirts. Instead they make xl smaller. It's gonna suck if they print something I like.

I'm not pleased with Threadless right now.

Crap, this is bad news for me, as I find the XL even a little tight at times... Pleeeeease, make the XL bigger, Threadless. We ladies are not all a size 14... :(

Funny...I got the same problem with my Girly XL shirt as well. Love the fabric and the general ")(" of it, but they should be more generous with the waist. I'll try the Guys M or S the next time.
tiphaine
   tiphaine on Dec 07 '06 at 9:25am
it seems to be pretty much the universal opinion that the new girly XL needs to be more generously cut. i'm really hoping threadless will take this into consideration, because from the sound of it there's no way i can fit into the new size.
SlicedUpEyeballs
SlicedUpEyeballs on Dec 07 '06 at 9:34am
wasn't it supposed to be that the new shirts fit more generously? This angers me because I've been waiting for the new shirts to get printed more and well.... now it just looks like I won't be buying threadless :( For personal reasons I don't buy guys shirts (besides the fact that they look awful on me....)

kellybelly223
kellybelly223 on Dec 07 '06 at 10:06am
i think it would be a good idea for them to just start offering XS and 2X sizes for both guys and girls...since they're in control of their own shirts and all now :)
maija
maija on Dec 07 '06 at 10:12am
I think they said somewhere that they're still working on the sizing.

Probably the release of the I love Threadless tees at the time that they did was a deliberate experiment to get feedback just like this.

danisse on Dec 07 '06 at 10:15am
The one thing I really don't like on the new girly shirts is the too-short sleeves. I wear a small and it seems like there are hardly any sleeves at all!

Ueno

so damnit.. even more reason to make it bigger :(!
Westwood
Westwood on Dec 07 '06 at 11:25am
I like the fit of the new shirts but they need to be more generous with the sizing and make them longer. AA seems to run small as it is...and the new shirts are even smaller! I had to go up a size as well.

I think it's crap when people say "just buy a guy's shirt." They're made for guys for a reason...I think the cut is so unflattering on most women.
specialdave
specialdave on Dec 07 '06 at 11:25am
the "i heart threadless" shirts are printed on a different shirt.
they used to be what you get if you win a design or you would be able to get it if you went to the chicago wearhouse. but, by popular demand, now you can get them off line. so YES, they are different.
Westwood
Westwood on Dec 07 '06 at 11:26am
No, these are different than the old I Heart Threadless shirts. This is threadless's own brand of shirts.

Ueno
Ueno on Dec 07 '06 at 11:34am
yeah!! and i wouldnt wanna waste money on buying a guy's shirt..

and lol... i think we all know that special dave?.. we just need to give feedback on the new shirts cos if they dont make the damn shirts bigger then maybe the S and XL sizes for the girls wont fit!! :( and i'd have to stop buying them..

@lsmc - i think it depends really, maybe you had more or less almost the same amount of room left from the FOTL one.. so.. yeah..

but us XL girls wont be able to buy the girly ones anymore cos its shorter and even smaller than the old AA sizing.
Ueno
Ueno on Dec 07 '06 at 11:36am
OH....... i guess i have one more complaint.. the thing with giving more curves on the girly shirts.. it would only look good on ugh.. id hate to say this but im fat too anyway.. on thinner or smaller girls.. so if you have wide hips like me.. it'll only make it worse....................

so yeah maybe lesser curves on the XL.. i dunno.. its gonna look bad for people who have big hips like me -_-

sorry to hear about the sizing problems for the ladies

anyone know how the new XL mens are??? I'm like 200lbs and about 6'2" .... hopefully the mens XL are still going to work.

Ueno

well they said they made it bigger.. and after washing it turned out pretty good i believe.. so not much problems on the sizing there..
Papaprime
   Papaprime on Dec 07 '06 at 11:58am
This seems to spell disaster for me, as I have to stretch out the guys 2x's over my knees a couple times to get them to fit me (I'm a bit plump)

So if the sizing on the girly shirts is in any way indicative of the rest of the line, I'm shit out of luck unless this next diet doesn't fail me.
ursulaa
ursulaa on Dec 07 '06 at 11:58am
feedback is GOOD! keep it coming. i was surprised to find that i took an XL in the i heart threadless shirt, when i usually take a medium or shrunken large from AA.

Awww crap! I hate microsleeves. That was my biggest beef with the AA shirts (those sleeves were barely tolerable). But now the new XL shirts aren't fitting the same? And if what I am hearing about the new guys shirts is true (i.e. that they are too long) then I don't think I am going to be able to shop here anymore. Which sucks cause I really like Threadless and I enjoy giving them my money :(
pyr4lis
pyr4lis on Dec 07 '06 at 1:37pm
wow I didn't realize the size difference was THAT drastic Ursulaa. I Usually buy the AA Girly Mediums because they fit my waitline better... but in all honesty they usually are too tight across the chest and shoulders and a little too short. (I'm about a size 10 and usually buy medium tops in pretty much any normal store.) I'd go to a large but they bag around the waistline and the extra 1/2 inch in length isn't worth looking like I'm chubby around the middle.

The IDEAL shirt for me would be to take the girly Medium add about 3 inches to the length (maybe 4 if thats possible), and an extra 1 inch to the sleeve length. The perfect shirt would be in a comprable thickness material but have more softness and a bit more stretch to them. It would have the ) ( curve in at the side so the narrowest point matches up to width of an AA tee and then have the hip area and shoulder area a bit wider than the current AA mediums.

i'm 5'3" and slim and i wear an AA large... and i hate tight sleeves!! i like the way the AA large fits but now i'm worried about the new shirts not being as comfortable. i'm picky when it comes to the fit of my shirts.
