I'm visiting my best friend from high school there next weekend for like 3 days and I was wondering what cool things there is to do around there that I can do that aren't exactly tourist destinations?

Any helpful tips and pointers would be appreciated!

My friend already told me I'm not allowed to run up the stairs humming "Eye Of The Tiger."

....at least not when she is around.

Ok, like Amish said... go to South Street... and get one cheesesteak and one chicken cheesesteak at Ishkabibble's (on 4th and South, I think... it's near Jim's, which you should AVOID because their steaks are lousy), and then split them with your friend so you each get half.

And you should totally do the Rocky thing... I think everyone from Philly has done it too, at one point or another!

Oh yeah, and get the chicken cheesesteak with hots and sweets (hot and sweet peppers)... but I like the regular cheesesteak just American with (American cheese, with fried onions).

Oh yeah, I second The Standard Tap - they have some of the greatest bar food ever. Also a stellar collection of nearby microbrews... but I guess you can't buy beer yet.

What sorts of things are you into? If you want to drive by the historic area it's kind of worth it, just to see it. It's only about a mile square so it's not like it takes forever.

There are also some things to do outside of the city if you start running out of things to do.

TastyKakes are sort of a Philly icon as are cheesesteaks. There is a reason why Philly is one of the fattest cities.

I second both South Street and Ishka's. Go to Zipperhead on S. Street. Best. Record. Store. Ever.

All about me
I'm a 20 year old college student from Ohio. I've got a slacker attitude and a 3.7 GPA (which I never think makes any sense). I've been studying Business Management and Marketing and will be transferring to Wittenberg University in the fall to study International Business with a minor in either Communication or City/Urban Development. I'm an avid music listener and hopefully a future DJ for my next colleges radio station, if I get that I'll be sure to post a link to the web broadcast for all of you to check out.

I'm in love with art, was a graphic design major for a quarter until I figured out you had to be able to draw to succeed in that major, so I went to marketing instead. Currently in love with what I'm learning and hope I can get a halfway awesome job by the time I'm through with college.
