mebbe i should be 12 years old or something to enjoy it.

I believe it was quite early in your other blog when you proclaimed you were the maturest of the mature. Thus why it was a given to insult your ability to act like an 8 year old whilst being 30. There's a difference between having an opinion and proclaiming that anyone who finds this to be a decent design lacks the ability to see.
bluegabs
bluegabs on Feb 13 '07 at 1:11am
thanks for the explanation, but i really dont give a hoot.

never did i proclaim my maturity, but more so voices that mebbe if i was younger, id get it? the average overall age of the "OMGZ THIS ROOOLZ" opinion blogs back my point up quite clearly.

i voiced my opinion, i bring on the sarcasm & "your mom" retorts, kids got butthurt, the internets explode. just another day in this crazy system of tubes. the end.

at no point in this whole matter was i once hurt, miffed, or anything less an entertained beyond belief .

and it never ends... so fun!

the funny thing is, bluegabs, is that everyone feels the same cynicism about everyone else (whose internet personality they don't know) on the internet. you think you're just kicking back and enjoying the offended/overly-dramatic kids, when everyone else is doing the same thing. the internet is weird that way.
slaterock

bluegabs, the funny thing to me is, I think the majority of people who have gotten a design printed on threadless tend to be about 22-25'ish. Sonmi being one of them, and I as well, think that this design is pretty amazing both concept wise and technically. I guess I'm not sure who you are to go blabbing like a baby, but I believe that we do have a bit of a clue what we are talking about. I realize everyone has their own opinion, and that's just dandy, but there's a way to voice your opinion and still keep the respect of people. You did not do this, and that's why the wrath of the threadless bloggers has come down upon you.

Don't be an ass.

since you are handing them out for free, i'll take one. i think this is a wonderful shirt and the only reason i didn't buy it is that, with my coloring, i suppose it would make me look like i had just caught on fire. if it's free, though, i could just snuggle up with it at night and stuff.

i'm the same age as the OP, give or take a few decimal points. i've been printed here. AND i love this shirt.

i am totally boning the curve. sorry guys.

i noticed one thing, bluegabs seems to care that this design was commissioned at all. so that's why she blogged, right? doesn't care for as in doesn't like it, but her concern is valid enough to post about.

it's amazing that anyone in the innerhexagon can rant and rave about most anything (as long as it's predetermined as a rant they can all get behind) except for those that aren't well known, myself included.

we get called babies and drama makers etc.

it just ain't right.

refridgerator.

roboticoctopus, for me it's more about how a person expresses their opinion. It's fine to not like something. But if you were the artist, would you really want to see a blog solely dedicated to disect and make fun of your work? Something you probably put a lot of time and effort into? Most likely not.
tiphaine
   tiphaine on Feb 13 '07 at 10:50am
what bothers me about hater blogs is that there are both subjective and objective criteria for judging design, and when people say something like "this is pure shit," for example, they're denying objective value in design. subjectively, you don't like it. fine. it's kind of rude to blog about it, and i wouldn't do it myself, but go ahead, knock yourself out. but as soon as you say something is shit, crap, worthless, terrible, foul, etc., you're saying that the design has no objective value, which is almost never true of designs that threadless prints. this frequently bleeds into "people who claim to like this are only doing so because they are pretentious/hipsters/attention-seeking/sheep/etc."

again, there are plenty of designs that i dislike for subjective reasons (i'm bored by the subjct matter, the colors are masculine, the style is not one i prefer, i dislike wearing shirts with women's faces on them, etc.). but these shirts aren't crap. they follow many, if not all of the principles of aesthetics to create a sufficiently well-designed shirt that threadless is justified in printing, regadless of my personal feelings about the style.
tiphaine
   tiphaine on Feb 13 '07 at 10:51am
p.s. in my subjective estimation, this shirt is fucking rad.

well it's happened more or less to me on various occasions. it is a free internet (and country, USA) so ANY opinion, regardless of the attitude is permitted. Threadless, since they own this internet venue has the right to refuse anyone service and can ban anyone from saying what is disagreeable to the company.

but that isn't happening (yet). so the rest of us on here should really lighten up...

and i agree with the original post, there are tons of unprinted designs by talented and professional artists and we go ignored. because either an already printed favorite artist has priority, or some select artist is commissioned to belt one out.

i think a lot of designs that get printed aren't that good.

boo hoo.

Why does everyone jump on people who write criticism blogs? Criticism doesn't equal hate; however if people buy or don't express that they don't like shitty stuff on a site whose printing of shirts is somewhat based on peoples opinion of designs, then they will continue to print shit. If you'll buy it, they will print 50 different variations of talking cookies dancing with skulls.

Personally I think this shirt's pretty cool, but why does a person have to be harassed for saying they don't like it? That's what these blogs are for... for feedback. Not for patting some person on the back who already made at least $1000.
