I am in no means a good Character Artist, so I'm looking for a collab with an Awesome Character Artist.

Here is my sketch idea.

I thought it was funny, but I am not a good enough character artist to make it great enough for a Threadless T-shirt submission.

Anyone interested?

Also is the idea funny?

I guess I could start it off by trying to vector out the vending machine but I'm sure that the people are going to be difficult for me.

I'll bump this blog.

Wish I could help, but I'm absolutely AWFUL at people myself.

The idea is funny; the mask on the machine is pretty good. I'd say whoever you find to do the characters should make sure that the policeman is truly perplexed.

Great idea. Hope someone comes along to help you out.

oh good you got the idea that the policeman was perplexed/confused. I was thinking that would make it funnier.

Does the vending machine come across like he got caught on the street corner?

You need Naolito for this.

Oh!

I think I'd be funny to have the vending machine in a police lineup of other, normal thugs. The vending machine could still be wearing the mask, looking very nervous. You wouldn't even need to actually draw the boy and policemen, then. Just their outlines fading into the rest of the shirt color.

The new characters, then, would be the group of thugs. But they'd be much easier to draw, if they're all standing at a casual posture.

That's my 2 cents worth.

hmmm the police line up idea is good. Then the cop and kid could be silhouettes in the foreground.

but then I would need other characters in the line up.... now I would be back to my original problem... character drawing.

i dont want to put you in the awkward situation of saying no to someone, like if the artist of cat piss face suggested he draw this, so feel free to say no -- I wont be offended. i know im not all that great.
however i could at least attempt to sketch this up and if you like it, we could proceed, and if not you could pass it off to other artists!

sometimes my characters and linework turns out nice. you can prob. get someone better, though

Go for it. I have seen your work and I'm cool with us teaming up on this. I can help with the vectoring up additional details and stuff. Do you work mostly in photoshop or Illustrator? I'm a vector guy but I'm cool with photoshop too. I need to be open to not everything being vector someday. :-)

unfortunately, the last time I opened Illustrator was 1095 days ago when I did my first sub, but I don't think it'd be too hard to use both on one design. or we could just pick one or the other.

do you ever use aim or any chatting program? we could talk there if you'd like. my aim is:

just 70mph

Awesome. We can make this work. I'll man up and join you in Photoshop. I am skilled in both programs. Or we work out a majority in photoshop and then I vector it up for us near the end.

Team bortjelly!

I have an aim but I don't use it much anymore. Not a lot of time to "chat". Email me if you have questions for me. bortwein at hotmail
