What the hell? Why did this get such a low score? Way to stick up for the little guy, threadless gods, and veto that bogus score.
Same goes for "Tyger Tyger", by the way.
So, I'm doing an illustration for somebody-- they want a parody of the famous "march of progress" picture; the one where a walking ape progresses forward into modern man.
I started out by scanning the original (from a time life book) for reference. But how close to the original is too close? Is it ethical to trace it, if it still bears elements of my own artistic style? Or am I obligated to mimic it only by eye? http://people.ucsc.edu/~tbabb/shirt_temp/march.png Above is an example of my style versus the original. (Unfortunately, I can't embed an image or a link because my account is broken and does not allow me to post HTML). I figured the threadless community seems pretty keen on the issue of copyright, so I ask for your advice. about Dark Side of the Garden
...I would like to see this on a different color. Bright green just looks so cheap.
I just finished writing this computer program. It reads medical CT data and renders it in 3D. I came up with its rendering method on my own; I'm amazed that it works so well.

After many months of Threadless inactivity, my design and I have been revived:

I've never bought an American Apparel shirt. How does their fabric compare to Fruit of the Loom? I prefer soft, heavy, dense weaves rather than thin, lightweight fabric. Which is better in that respect?
Tired of assigning scores to shirts all willy-nilly, I decided to develop a set of standards:
0 - Blasphemy / Atrocious. No time or effort whatsoever terrible execution probably made me cringe awful art likely to involve a poorly drawn heart on the left breast 1 - Bad You put SOME effort in, but the shirt is still a flop nothing happening visually very poor art the idea was probably doomed to begin with little true originality 2 - Mediocre Some artistic talent displayed Perhaps a poor idea with good execution, or vice versa Not bad, but definitely not printworthy 3 - Good Excellent in either execution or idea, but probably lacking in at least one of the aforementioned aspects. Possibly printworthy has some sort of recognizable and thought-out style I probably wouldn't wear it, but others likely would 4 - Excellent If this were printed (and I have store credit left over) I would likely get this. Has a well-defined style. Strong in all aspects: idea, style, execution, composition, colors, etc. Original. stands out among all other designs before it; I will remember this one. 5 - Reserved: Amazing. This is the best shirt I have seen here in many weeks. There is something very special about this shirt that totally blew me away. Print print print. Few 5's are ever given. A true 5 is really more of an unattainable ideal. What's your scoring scale?
Your site's UI needs a little tweak-- it doesn't properly convey what is possibly the most important information in the entire site: what you can and can't buy. Preview thumbnails look just the same for printed designs as unprinted ones. They should really be distinguished (e.g. by an orange halo or outline). That way, I can tell what a designer has had printed just by glancing at his profile ("check me out, I'm a winner" is borken; many prints do not show up there).
And for the last time, why can't I sort scored submissions by final score? |
I haven't submitted any photos. I guess I don't want free money.
