0 - Pretty much never unless it's stolen
1- At least they made the effort, no matter how awful
2 - Could have potential, but executed poorly
3 - Good concept/poor execution or good execution/poor concept
4 - Great stuff, but probably not something I'd wear
5 - Perfect in every way

I try and strike a balance between what I think is good work and what I'd wear. There's plenty of very decent submissions that I wouldn't wear in a million years, so I try not to be to harsh on them.

I'll change "I'll never wear it" to "I wouldn't buy it."

here's basically how i score designs. although a lot more goes into my thinking for each sub...

5 - great design/idea and i can't think of any way to improve it.
4 - great design/idea, but i slight change would make it even better.
3 - either great design/good idea or good design/great idea. but not overall great yet.
2 - something is good here. but greatness is a reach.
1 - the effort is there, but it's far from anything good.
0 - if i could replicate it in under 5 minutes (i'm an awful artist)

i still think that's a little bizarre veverka. over have the shirts i own i didn't think i'd want to buy, until i saw them in print...but that's your opinion. i don't mean to stomp on it.

i start off by being nice and then as i look more and more i get more disgusted with designs and start scoring lower and lower.

arite, yeah it's definately difficult to approach each sub the exact same way, when you've already gone through 50 or so.

0 - shouldn't have been submitted
1 - no... just... no.
2 - Needs improvement but shows potential
3 - It's a good concept/design
4 - I love it but don't know if I'd wear it.
5 - I'd wear it

Well, let's take a fantastic drawing of a nude woman reclined on a hot rod and eating a raw fish. Or something. That's as un-me as anything can get. I would't wear it, and if I saw it at a store, I wouldn't buy it.

That doesn't make it any less an awesome work of art, deserving a high rating. Someone else would buy and wear it, but not me. I still appreciate it, though.

oh and art im impartial to but impressed by gets a 4 or a 5. sometimes i score bitterly and almost always give resubs a 0.

0 - if a woman did the design (They should be busy cleaning or in the kitchen)
1- if it is a terrible design but atleast a man did it
2- if my cursor is already over the 2 sometimes I just hit 2 because it's less work
3 - if someone gave me a good comment on my designs, I'll give them a 3
4- something that's really really really awesome
5- reserved for my own submissions and fantastic drawings of nude women reclined on a hot rod

I usually judge in black or white.

0 - no effort, easily created, no thought

5 - well thought out, something i would wear or someone else might wear. something that is time consuming.

$- the cream of the crop that rise to the top. There aren't many of these.

vev - hence why my rating system is based on the illustration and overall concept. I just added the wear it stuff because it's true.

That is basically my personal rating system. A 1 usually means "well, it's a drawing of some kind".

0 - Stolen, or shitty enough to cause anaphylactic shock.
1 - Shitty but original, or slightly better done but could be found in any old shop.
2 - Meh.
3 - Pretty good. Not into the idea, but the execution is nice.
4 - Really good idea, good execution/lame idea, really fucking good execution.
5 - Awesome illustration, regardless of the idea.

$3 - Good idea, not-so-hot execution.
$4 - Good idea, good execution.
$5 - Awesome in every way.

It usually works like that in my head!

Every sub I look at starts with a 2, and gets more or fewer points from there.

0—Stolen, tasteless, or something I'm flat-out sick of.
1—Worse-than-average, blatantly lazy, or sometimes (I admit it) a good submission done by someone I think is a jerk.
2—Default score. Average submission, nothing awful, nothing special.
3—On the high end of average. I can tell extra time was spent on this.
4—Fours just sort of happen. They're somewhere between 3 and 5, heh.
5—I like this idea, and it looks good. I'll also give fives to support a designer even if I'm not a fan of the design.
$—This is the sort of thing of which I want Threadless to print more. I might not buy it, but I'd at least like to be given the opportunity. =]
