The "ones you forgot" are kind of bullshit. They're arranged alphabetically but in a few groups. I'd only rate the first group as actual countries. The rest are overseas territories and other things that don't have independence. I think they have found a list of ISO 3166-1 codes which includes countries, territories and regions of geographical interest. Like Heard Island and the McDonald Islands, besides being a bitch to type, aren't even inhabited yet they're assigned an ISO 3166-1 code and as a result have an internet domain .hm but they're just an external territory of Australia.

yeah, squatterjohn, I noticed that as well. It accepted some of my answers that were actually territories, which I thought was kind of odd. And their total country count is ridiculously high.

I was suspicious from the start about that high country count. The UN has just less than 200 members, I think the IOC may have a little over 200, because they let Hong Kong and "Chinese Tapei" and Palestine and I guess some others compete and there may still be some UN hold-outs left somewhere in the world, but even Switzerland has joined now. I thought maybe they'd listed the UK separately. But no, just Jersey and Gernsey and all their other weird islands.
