I need help with net geekery please :)

I am setting up my email on my new comp, but at the moment it is popping my emails off my server, downloading them onto entourage and deleting them off my server.

Is there any way I can get entourage to get my emails, but NOT delete them off the server? I know I had it that way on my last comp, but I have no idea how.

First off, don't use Entourage; it's a terrible program :-p

But for serious, there should be an option under the account settings where you can choose to have Entourage not download the emails from the server.

or there might be something that says "Leave messages on server for X days/Until I delete them"

OR, there might be a setting in the webmail where you can choose to leave them on the server.

If you're using Gmail, you can definitely do this, because I leave my Gmail email on the server, but I use a program on my compy to view them.

why don't you use gmail.... I have my work emails sent to my gmail client. (I just have to remember to CHANGE which address I'm "sending" it from)

I use my work email @ myworkplace.com and it's SENT to my gmail box. You're not understanding what we are saying.

you just have to go through gmail- verify that it's actually your email addy- it's really easy, and handy

Seriously I like having my emails the way they are - I just wanna be able to choose which ones I delete off my server...

adrienne, i highly recommend you try out Thunderbird. once you start using it, you'll see how lame Entourage is. you don't have to switch identities for different email addresses or anything; they're all on the screen at once. and it's just way better :-p
