I take my design very seriously. threadless is a design-oriented site. That's what makes it so great. Shirts are an excellent medium for design.

From a marketing standpoint, the purpose of design is to carry a message - to sell something. While designs can & do carry messages very effectively, I feel that a design can be a message in & of itself.
There is absolutely no room for this view in the market place - which might be why I'm not a graphic designer.

t-shirts should be simple: totally blank except for 1 strong graphic. That 1 image should command your attention. If it doesn't, it's just another shirt.

Type tees: What a Great idea! (props to whoever came up with that one)

I have been studying Visual Communications/ Graphic Design & Print for the past 4 years. Although I'm only just about to complete my Associates. I work too.

Disclaimer: This blog isn't about Outbreak Girl. I just wanted to feature the art on this blog because it's a STRONG piece of design.

When I got back in college after a year & a half off, it was because I had nothing else to do.
I decided to study Graphic Design simply because it was something that was interesting that I could do.
I have really enjoyed learning about it. The classes & teachers where alway more good than not. The structure of the VIS-COM program was relaxed & conducive to learning & creativity.

For about the past year, I've had a sneaking suspicion that I really don't want to pursue Design professionally. The suspicion has turned into an almost absolute certainty. It's kind of weird.

I'm still really glad that I chose this path, because it's had a lot to offer. It exposed me to photography - something I never thought I would get into. Even after enjoying the class immensely, I never thought it would be much more than a hobby. But for the past year or so I've really been lovin it. I do a little freelance work - maybe 15 - 20 hrs. a week. I find I enjoy it so much more than sitting @ a computer developing a design. Maybe this is what I'm supposed to do.

Wow, I just realized this blog totally went on introspective tangeant.
This might be the most boring blog I've ever written. For this reason, I'm not deleting it. I'll leave it up so I can refer back to it later to make sure it's the most boring. And I'm gonna try again with another blog about design...

I decided to join threadless for the sole purpose of buying Stir It Up.
As soon as I finished creating my account, it sold out in my size.
It has never been reprinted - which would be really cool if I had one. But I don't.

I used to score a lot of submissions but eventually stopped for 2 reasons:

frustration that my favorites weren't getting picked &

simple busyness & less free time

I regret that I never got the one shirt I wanted first. But I still love threadless. I have gotten my hands on most of the shirts that I wanted since then. I'm mainly on here to shop. I buy shirts for my bro, sis, cuz, & friends every year. threadless shirts are the coolest T's on the planet.

It sure has grown a lot in the last 4 years. Damn.
