Batman Questions

I like to think that I know a lot about Batman, but something has never made sense to me.

How's he so rich?

His dad was a doctor, not the richest man in Gotham. You can tell because he's walking his family through alleyways after seeing a movie.

Mom and Pop die, Bruce is raised by a butler, then disappears for years and comes back. Is Alfred some sort of Wall Street mastermind? Did he sell his kidneys? I don't get it.

I mean, it's a longstanding company with a bunch of different branches that pretty much cover every industry. It's only real competition in the DC universe is LexCorp.

It's pretty much like Apple or Microsoft in the real world, except even more expansive.

see the problem here is that recent generations have been confused with multiple conflicting batmans

the fact of the matter is that the character has been diluted so thin by countless writers, editors, storyarcs, reinventions and elseworlds tales that only the most diehard batman purists can still keep track of the true origin and surrounding details

Real estate. The family owns half the land in Gotham. They got into it many generations before his father's when they owned the land as farms. It's all alluded to recently in stories like "Return of Bruce Wayne."
