You're judging his/her talent solely on one sub.

I looked through her facebook the other day after following another link

Props to threadless for laughing all the way to the bank while these prophecies come true about 15+ year olds forgetting why they bought the shirt in the first place.

well at least now the inevitable has happened....they can all get their crap shirts, bugger off and let us get back to business as usual. The hype will all be over in a week! Especially when they realise every second tosser on the street is wearing the same shirt!

I am extremely sick of this thing!

They give her the alumni medal, thats just wrong i dont see how she can be classified with the likes of alexmdc, FM,, Isaboa and many many more just wrong

i understand the uproar about this, but at the same time you have to give oxen there due. They took very well know things from the internet and came up with this. Then to top it off they did a really good job at designing it. I say congrats to them!

Now I'm not sure if its right that threadless skipped everything and went to printing it, but its a company and you can't blame them for wanting money. That's what businesses do.

The bottom line is, the submission by OXEN scored the highest in threadless history. And threadless has a proven formula of printing subs with the highest demands.

I gotta tip my hat off to the designer. Congrats!

I actually don't mind it printing, why miss the opportunity? The artwork isn't that bad and the artist seems deserving. What bothers me a little is the changing of the rules that established Threadless to cash in on a fad.

Doesn't woot! handle fad tees?

Just to throw it out there, I say this shirt sells around 1,000 today and tomorrow and up to 3,000 in the next 2 days as blogs catch up again. Then on to around 10,000 pieces by next week.

They should've made it a Select, since that's what they basically did. Then they could charge $25 for it.

i agree with wotto. i mean im not going to buy it so i dont really care that it printed, and MAYBE itll bring more users?... but it is kind of cheeky that it "ended scoring early" idk i just cant wait till next monday when the new tees are out and people will be talking about this less
iPear
iPear on Jul 21 '09 at 10:22am
dude, threadless think about the sheer amount of kids that will be stealing their parents credit cards to buy this shirt.

oh man...

It finishing early is actually good for the rest of the shirts currently in the running.

That's what I was thinking too.

Anyway I think this one may have been hard for the staff to gauge, how many people really wanted it and how many were just following along, pre-order solves that and it lock all these people into a purchuse in stead of them waiting 4 weeks and then forgeting they ever voted on it.

They can't promote one design for Bestee ahead of the rest, that would be even more ridiculous than what they did here.

Is it better for everything else currently in the running? On the one hand, having it up brings in voters, not just buyers. But on the other hand, a lot of those voters were idiots.

i wonder how much of an impact threadless' promotion of the design on Facebook and Twitter had on votes/scoring/etc. hmmm....

that being said, if the people want it, someone's gonna give it to 'em.

threadless was very smar about it, they didnt print them til they get pre-orders to see if it will actually sell

stubby43 on Jul 21 '09 at 10:53am
A quick estimate of how much money threadless will make off this tee assuming that they sell 10,000 and the tee's sell at $4 a shirt (this figure is the only thing I know for sure cause the book crowdsourcing profiles threadless and lists this price) they will earn:

$160,000

Yes but, threadless haven't always chosen the highest scoring subs to print in the past. They've chosen designs based on their aesthetic taste and how it appeals to them first and foremost, then based on score and popularity.

There have been many designs which scored extremely well (Glennz' Rock me Amadeus for eg.) and which have had many blogs demanding them to print them and yet threadless did not cave in to public demand.
