Why? Because there is a speech bubble involved?
ecky_ducky
ecky_ducky on Oct 17 '06 at 9:05am
And a briefcase?
Bramish

It's pretty much completely different other than that they both feature a silouhette guy and a speech bubble, which is hardly an entirely original concept.

Yeah, pretty much.

Not saying "Ask Me How I Became A Pirate" was the most original concept in the world, but the two designs mirror each other pretty closely.

Actually, the detail on this one is better, though.

No wai Bramish, this is TOTALLY plagiarism!

TOTALLY!
ecky_ducky
ecky_ducky on Oct 17 '06 at 9:08am
They don't mirror each other!

One's about pirates, and the other's about being secretly juvenile!

Tom Brazelton on Oct 17 '06 at 9:09am
Being a pirate isn't juvenile?

I didn't say the concepts were similar. I think the execution is.

I can see where you'd draw similarities.

Don't get me wrong - I like the concept and design of this shirt.

It's just - when I saw it - I said "Whoa, de ja vu!"

I see similarities.

LOL this is why threadless is getting so ridiculous.

oh - a tshirt with a speech bubble on it has been printed. from now anyone with anything remotely similar is copying! same goes for anything with robots, hearts, tree outlines, food with faces....

when will it end??? it will end soon, when every submitted idea is seen to be copying something that is already printed.

At first I thought it was part two in a series of clipartworks from the same artist.

I second sonmi's post.

All I'm saying is that they're similar. I never claimed plagiarism.

Do you guys ever get tired of being so ironic and detatched?

I thought of "Ask Me How I Became a Pirate" when I saw this one too. People need to calm down. It's not a big deal.

If you weren't claiming anything why even bring it up?
Tom Brazelton
Tom Brazelton on Oct 19 '06 at 10:56pm
Because I thought it was worth discussing. I wanted to know if I was the only one who saw similarities or not.

Does that not meet your criteria for blog posts? I didn't know we needed to run them by you first.
