So I run in Vibram Five-Fingers, Bakila's and I came into work with both left and right this morning and now one is missing, I think someone stole one either as a joke or just to be a duck... anyway they are my running shoes, my only running shoes and I am losing my mind right now, getting pretty mad and just seething. Talk me down so I don't go postal and shoot up the whole place.

I wish I could help talk you down, but I'm in a shitty mood today myself and actually am about to go running to help cool off.

I will say that Shirty is improving my mood slightly by cracking me up in almost every blog today :)

They're also expensive. Incidentally that's the exact same shoe I am hoping to buy next. Can you tell me a bit about them?

Sucks that someone would swipe one show. Who does that?

I'm thinking about getting a pair as well. My feet are tougher than most due to my utter lack of interest in wearing shoes however, my nerves can't handle the 20-40 minute walks home from bus stops on sidewalks. That shit seems not that bad but the next day... *shudders*

Also, Jen, or maybe Scott, her husband, or maybe Courtney, had to describe what "going postal" meant, and where it came from to me when I was down in Seattle in September.

my kids rarely wear shoes.

apparently all this technology devoted to making really soft soles on our shoes has had a negative effect on our biological development

I hope you get your shoe back soon!

I just ran 3 miles as hard as I could and feel less like I want to punch today in the ghoulies.

Awww, Shirty! ;)

got it back... damn i dont do well when something important to me goes missing, just started a new job at New Balance corporate and they don't like us wearing competition (nike/adidas/ect...) so it was a joke by my supervisor, but im only 2 weeks in so im looking around at the whole office thinking who the hell do i know well enough already to be taking my shit out of my bookbag

anywho vibrams is actually partnered with NB on their new Minimus trail line so I thought I was safe from scrutiny which is not the case. haha

As for the Vibrams for those who were asking I have been running in Vibrams for the past 2-3 years and the Bakilas are by far the best version they have introduced to date, they are truly made for runners, took me a second to adjust to the curve where your arch is but they are phenom.

Actually NB gives me a 40% discount on their shoes and a 1 time 75% off my first pair so I just ordered the Minimus 10 trails and from the test pair I tried on they feel great, sadly there is a 4mm drop from heel to toe so they are not true barefoot shoes, though the 2012 Minimus 00 will be out in the spring and they are a flat 0mm drop which will be exactly like the Vibrams.

Why would I consider switching to the Minimus when the Vibrams are so awesome, well 40% off is nice, and second with a toe shoe you have to fit each individual toe, so even though my entire foot feels great occasionally if I run down stairs too quick my pinky toe will bruise because its slightly longer than a 'typical' foots so its the first toe to strike the front of the shoe if my foot slides forward. I will always own Vibrams and I love them, but I think the Minimus line might steal my business when the newest version comes out

I'm thinking of getting Minimus too. I have been running for about 8 months now and I just don't like regular shoes. Having run around in flip flops and bare feet most of my life they are so restrictive and too squishy.

PHIL!!!!
i miss your face boooyy

Kookabutt I think you will love the thinner shoe, its a completely different stride whichever you chose, you land on your midsole or close to the ball of your foot rather than your heel and it feels so much better, you feel like a kid running around your yard without a care in the world

New balance makes good stuff. I love their walking trail shoes. I wear them to work as my "casual dress shoes". They look nice enough that no one notices. Super comfy.
