Up until now I thought the existence of vector art like that was over-exaggerated. I'm very impressed, thanks for sharing tracer.

what?! That's fucking crazy.

How the hell do they control all those points and gradients?

They much have machines with like 4 TB RAM
tracerbullet
   tracerbullet on Jul 29 '06 at 12:42pm
definitely. i guarantee they have an empty external hard drive to use as a scratch disk or something. i don't even know how to do gradient fills :-p

Man, that makes my vector of Kurt Cobain I did look like poo. (of course, I was only 3 months into illustrator... and I possess far less talent than all of those designers.)

I need to start messing with gradient meshes again. I don't have an illustrator class currently, so all my tooling around is for this site, so meshes are obviously out the window.

cool, but a lil too heavy on the file size. defeats the purpose of vectorness.

it looks good but my d-70 does this in less then a second...

i have never been much of a fan of photo realisum in any form, if it's a painting show it's a painting, use the brush to its full potential, leave a mark, show a stroke... the idea is to imagine the unimaginable not create the already available. Maybe when they start puting these images into incredible context i may change my mind!

Someone should ask Chuck Close "what's the point".

I think, with vector photorealism, it's the process of creating & not the final outcome.

there's definitely not a huge point to it, other than unlimited size since vectors don't get pixelated. i just thought it was cool :-p

squigey on Jul 31 '06 at 12:59pm
Not much point to the photorealistic versions but the link I posted above shows a stylistic way of creating the vector work. She's really good and affordable.

Bjork scares most people. Personally, I want her to have my children, and they can run around like crazy little bastards in Iceland. And I won't live with them, because Bjork is already married, but once I move to Iceland I can live down the street and visit them on weekends, and Bjork will call me on the telephone to remind me to bring their boots when I come down, but she won't just say it, she'll fucking sing it into the phone at me!

hannabear on Dec 09 '06 at 10:16pm
they should make a blogger's version of word where everything just translates. like 'lol' could become 'they laughed uproariously, as if they'd been friends for years.'

Jackanapes mk.II on Jul 31 '07 at 1:57pm
They should hand out oversized novelty vaginas at baseball games. You could use them to catch foul balls.
