Its written by the guy who wrote Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

I feel like movies have just suddenly changed this year because a lot of the stuff that's getting green lit is just plain ridiculous, like they've been written on an internet forum, they don't feel like real movies to me.

More just people going, hey this is cool and so is this lets put them together.

I mean theres Iron sky, Nazi's who live on the moon decide to take over the world, luckily Sarah Palin is the president and she's ready to kick ass.

Osombie: The Axis of Evil Dead

a NATO Special Forces unit races to defeat zombie bin Laden and his flesh-seeking militia, while also stopping the infection from spreading to even more terrorist corpses.

Part of me wants to say these are badly written movies and its going to be this happen and then this happen (kind of like how children tell stories, or stoners)

But then the other part of me wants to sing these movies praises because lets be honest, they sound kind of awesome and I love the fact that they very obviously dont take themselves too seriously.

^I think these movies have always existed. They're just getting bigger budgets and wider releases now thanks to the internet and crazy people.

What Justin said. Let yourself sing those praises, man. Along with these silly movies, there are a lot of really great, grounded films coming out of Sundance. Nothing wrong with a good popcorn flick.

i thought Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was shit, but abraham lincoln has more charisma than any of it's characters, and i love tim burton. i'll be seeing it.

to jublin/stubby's point, i also think it's indicative of a culture that's on the change from things being seend as "good or bad" to the ironic/hipster ideas of "good or bad". these would all be b movies in the 80s and 90s but because the ironic good has crept into the forefront of the collective conscious, when someone now says "wow that's bad" they open up their checking book or grab their debit card.

I wanna see Episode I in theaters just to see the fight scene at the end. But I probably won't. Oh well.

I don't even know why they had those laser walls in that place. The ones that separated the three. It seems like an overboard security feature.
SuperRyan
SuperRyan on Feb 14 '12 at 10:55pm
"Yeah, you guys are definitely going to want the laser walls. It's top-of-the-line. Also, I would recommend the extended warranty."

I was 9 when that movie first came out.
mike bautista
mike bautista on Feb 14 '12 at 11:00pm
Why did they even have a gigantic hole that the walls guarded? What were those even?
SuperRyan
SuperRyan on Feb 14 '12 at 11:09pm
The fight happened in the Naboo palace, right?

I had to look it up. Yeah, they are down in like the (I presume) energy-making part of the whole fucking thing. Then there's the laser walls and the big hole.

Is it an elevator shaft? Round elevators? A laser wall elevator protection system? What the fuck, George Lucas?
SuperRyan
SuperRyan on Feb 14 '12 at 11:10pm
Lucas was like "this movie isn't long enough. Put some...I don't know...laser walls or some bullshit in there."

also i remember a video with George explaining that the reason everyone fought like they knew karate in the newer ones, unlike the old ones where they kinda just did kendo stuff, was because they fought with more emotion. The hell.

George talks tits, the only people who used lightsabers in the original trilogy were old men and a kid who was taught by old men.

But didn't they have a scene where the jedi's basically get wiped out? With no Jedi order around to encourage people to study kendo stuff nobody bothers/cant to learn is because theres basically only two people left and those old dudes are in hiding.

I thought about posting ^ that, but I'm still not sure if it's worth the time to see it. If it had a stronger direction style (imagine this subject matter in Wes Anderson's hands), I'd be a bit more interested. It looks like great subject matter executed a bit below par. Not a bad end result...just not amazing.

Bjork scares most people. Personally, I want her to have my children, and they can run around like crazy little bastards in Iceland. And I won't live with them, because Bjork is already married, but once I move to Iceland I can live down the street and visit them on weekends, and Bjork will call me on the telephone to remind me to bring their boots when I come down, but she won't just say it, she'll fucking sing it into the phone at me!

hannabear on Dec 09 '06 at 10:16pm
they should make a blogger's version of word where everything just translates. like 'lol' could become 'they laughed uproariously, as if they'd been friends for years.'

They should hand out oversized novelty vaginas at baseball games. You could use them to catch foul balls.
