Does anyone know what percentages you need to hit with a slogan to get it printed?

I just wanted to know what people thought about designs that are boxed in. I quite like them myself and have bought numerous tees over the years like this. But the impression that i have been getting from people on here is that there not a good thing.

I use photoshop and im a technical adviser for photoshop, but should i concentrate on illustrator more?

I was just wondering which programmes people tend to use when doing their t-shirt designing? I currently use photoshop, but i was wondering what people could recommed? Flash? Illustrator?

Why don't they use Dye sub methods to do the tees and heatpress them on, then you could print anything without a colour limit?
