i'm currently debating with two (funny enough, both MALE) friends.

they both think the last crusade is better than the other two.

PSHHH
I THINK NOT!!!

last crusade is good. i like it. we have get togethers on the weekends sometimes.

but.

priest-killing religious arc of death with awesome heroin
vs. temple of doom with large rolling rocks and a small japanese kid sidekick
vs. sean connery, a couple cups, and an annoying-ass german girl.

what do you think?

iPear
iPear on Jun 09 '06 at 11:21am
well.

the holy grail.

is pretty cool.

mainly cuz the german chick.

is all

'I want to show you mein leiderhosen in die bed'

and stuff.

and sean connery is sexy.

Temple of Doom was my favorite. Who didn't quote the lovely "Kali Ma Shakti de," while pretending to take out their friends hearts.

Monkey brains, eyeballs, the bad guy getting eaten by crocs you name that movie had it

the birds killing the german pilot was funny

yeah, that was funny.

Also, that kid I thought was leo dicaprio at the beginning of the movie, was pretty awesome.

Well, Last Crusade is the only one I've actually ever seen (which is weird, I know, especially since I'm a huge movie nerd), so I'ma say it's the best right now :-p

the temple of doom had the crazy indian dudes though..

so.

raiders has massive priest killings from a deathlike arc, vicious monkeys that poison dates, one seriously ticked of nazi digger person, A LARGE GERMAN MAN BLENDERED IN A PLANE PROPELLER,and huge explosions due to gas accidents
inayellowsub
inayellowsub on Jun 09 '06 at 11:30am
tracer! you need to watch the other two.

how could you do this to meeee

Temple of Doom is the worst out of the bunch; everything about it sucks. The beginning reminded me of a wannabe James Bonds meets Indiana Jones. Raiders of the Lost Arc is probably the best, and the ending scene is classic. But, The Last Crusade did have River Phoenix and Sean Connery, and was the most polished of the three. My vote is for Raiders.

i'm with your male friends. they're all great for different reasons, but temple of doom is too comical for me.. although the nazis are pretty hilarious in the last crusade.. i think they're all brilliant. i'd go with the last crusade though.

last crusade. indy flashback was cool....

groundcontrol on Jun 09 '06 at 12:52pm
That's bunk. Nothing will ever beat Raiders. It's one of the best movies of all time. I know that there have been talks going on 10 years about a 4th Indy, but they need to just give up. IMO, Harrison Ford is just too old and he hasn't made a good film since '93 ('94 if you liked Clear & Present Danger; I thought it was okay, I enjoyed Wilhem Dafoe in it).

temple of doom is the worst of the lot. the hokeyest, the least historically accurate and just otherwise annoying of the three. like someone said, temple of doom was too comical, and the temple, caves and everything just looked too soundstage-y...the other ones used real locations more...
melhel86
melhel86 on Jun 09 '06 at 1:00pm
^^ maybe that's why I liked it. I was 12. Hokey is good at 12. Artisically Raiders is the best, it's the first it will always be the best. Holy Grail seems to be the one I watch the most.

Temple will always be my favorite. I saw it in the theatres and it's stuck with me since.

raiders of the lost ark is clearly the best.
personally i think temple of doom is awful..the production design is cheesy, the female lead is tembarassing and you've got the whole kid sidekick deal.
last crusade is good, but not great.

The Last Crusade is my favourite. River Phoenix, Sean Connery, and that amazing scene with the invisible bridge, who didn't think that shit was awesome?! Lovvvve it!

Raiders is the best. Much better than either of the sequels. And Temple of Doom just kinda sucked.
Per Danger
Per Danger on Jun 09 '06 at 3:51pm
Temple Of Doom is so bloody ridiculous and making fun of Indian people that it wouldn't be possible to film it today.
Kali ma!

Last Crusade has all the ingredients but as it was supposed to be the last in the trilogy, there's a bit too much innit.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is the best as it has Karen Allen, cool Nazis, no kid sidekick and it was the first of the batch and brought the house down, like Star Wars.

This isn't really even a discussion that needs to take place. Your friends are fuckheads. Raiders Of The Lost Arc is the only truly good one... Temple Of Doom is only okay. Last Crusade sucks. Just sucks. Period. Sean Connery licks gorilla ass.

mm. gorilla ass.

_______

I had a student in my summer school class last year... I don't remember what we were talking about, but she remarked: "That would totally just taste like *ass*!"

I said, "Okay, so J_____ says it would taste like ass. Now I'll have to take her word for that since I have no frame of reference..."

Yeah, I enjoy embarrassing the kids almost as much as I love teaching 'em.

i'm with Ollie.

Raiders has the best atmosphere and the best gags- e.g. the classic shooting of the swordsman.

and the melting Nazi's still amazes me- how did it get a PG rating?
TheBetterKelly

Raiders, most definitely. Who doesn't like to see nazi heads exploding?

I'm with jack on the "He chose ... poorly" line, but I'm also with phones on the improvised swordfight scene. It's a toss-up.

the bit where the nazi inadvertedly brands the stuff onto his hand in raiders is classic.

bump, i didn't get to talk much here...

well, raiders definitely is my favorite of the three.
sure, sean connery is a sweet actor and who doesn't like massive rolling deathtrap bolders of doom?
but raiders has the best plot, best heroine, and best chase scenes(common...the chase in the jeep with all those nazi guys?)
but i do love the japanese kid sidekick.
