I've always wondered how early people wake up. On week days, usually about 7:00. On weekends, usually about 8:00.

I also wonder how early people wake up before they need to; i.e. if you need to be somewhere at 8:00 am, how early will you wake?

Personally, I always wake up two hours before I need to. I do this because I like my mornings to be relaxed. I like to eat a full breakfast. If my morning is rushed, if I have a shitty stressed out morning; the rest of my day will be shit.

Additionally, I love the beginning dawn hours before the sun has come up and everything is quiet and still.

How about you?

5:45 on weekdays; we leave at 7 or so to take the girls to school and then head to work.

On the weekend it's really just dependent on how long the girls can stay quiet. Usually we're up by 8 or 9.

If I have to be somewhere and don't have the hassle of getting the girls ready as well, I give myself an hour. Showering, getting dressed, and drying my hair is about 30 minutes. I've gotta chill for a bit before I leave.

I too LOVE the pre-dawn time; the sun comes up behind our house, which is unencumbered by power lines or traffic, so it's really serene and beautiful.

you sound similar to me. I need to have some peace and quiet before I'm forced to face the world.

I agree with anything you said! I love the morning hours with its fresh air and the silence.
I also wake up minimum 2 hours before I need to be somewhere. I'm very slow in the morning and spent like one hour with only drinking coffee and being grumpy, I NEED to get out all the grumpy and if I have time to get out all the grumpy I enjoy the early hours alot! If someone disturbs my grumpy hour I'll be in a bad mood for hours. If I don't have time for a grumpy hour at all I'll be in a bad mood all day long!

I do love those quiet morning hours, too. But I only ever see them when I've been out all night. I'm not a morning person.

If I'm working a day shift (starting at 11) I'll get out of bed around 8:30.

If I'm working an evening shift (starting at 5) I'll get up around 9:30am, eat breakfast and read for an hour or so, and will not get showered and dressed until around 2pm.

Days off I'll get up as early as possible so as not to waste them.

At the weekends, I get up at 8ish, unless I have had a heavy night, which is rare now that I am an old lady...

During the week, 6.30 if I need to wash my hair, 7.15 if not.

I used to love sleeping in, but recently I've been enjoying being the first one up so I can potter around in peace.

No one should try to talk to the Malcon beast before it's consumed at least one cup of coffee.

"Days off I'll get up as early as possible so as not to waste them."

That's admirable.

Yeah, I admire you for that too, bram. I squander my days off so frequently.
Bramish

I need coffee and a shower before I can function in the morning. If I don't get both I'm grumpy until I do. Except for if I'm lounging home alone, then I don't need the shower until I leave the house.

I generally don't do much of use on my days off, but even if I've worked until 5am the previous night I like to be awake before 9 so at least I get as long as possible to bum around the flat doing fuck all.
Tonteau
   Tonteau on Nov 04 '09 at 8:40am
Well in my defence, I'll usually wake up at 12.00-1.00 but then cram a shit load of work/shopping/chores/whatever into my day. It's how I roll.

It is nice being up early at on a day off, though. A few weekends back I was up at 8.30 on the saturday, did a load of stuff and then got back home for a cuppa and realised football focus was still an hour away. I usually wake up just before it starts.

I have to get up at 7:30 if I work at 9. Often I'll be awake at 7 and snooze. But I squander my days off. I want to get up and be productive but I always sleep in.

on weekdays the alarm normally goes at 6.45 and we get up around 7.15 to 7.30.. I leave the house between 8.00 and 8.30.. I prefer to stay in bed five minutes longer if I don't have to hurry..

lolol "early"

I work at night, and I work late, usually, so I've been trying so hard to start going to bed earlier and getting up earlier.

So far I've been getting up at 9:30am on weekdays, and 11 during the weekend. And I feel like a bum.

But its much improved from my 11am weekday/ noon weekend regime.

for me, i get up a half hour or less before i get up...now that my bike is back in action, 15minutes is more than enough.

i just need enough time to check the weather for the day, brush my teeth, throw some pants and a jacket on, and leave

right now im idling around...i could have slept for 10 more minutes, at least!

as for the weekend, i usually sleep well into the afternoon to make up for lost sleep during the week. 2-3pm is pretty typical wake-up time for my roommate and i.

My first alarm goes off at 7:15--I turn it off.
My second alarm goes off at 7:20--I turn it off.
My third alarm goes off at 7:45--I turn it off.
Then I'll generally try for about another 5-10 minutes of sleep and get up a little before or a little after 8:00.

I get into work around 8:30.

The past week and a half I've been waking up at 8 AM on average...though I don't have class till 1:30 and 10:30 on Mondays/Weds and Tues/Thurs respectively. And on the weekends I normally work at 11, so I wake up no later than 9:30.

Recently, I've just had so many errands to run that I wake up at 8 to get shit done. And then I'm out till 11 pm this week because of rehearsals. It's exhausting.

I always think I hate getting up early, but when i'm up at the crack of dawn I love it...I love the smell of mornings. Depending on where I'm going...like if I have to look professional and well put together I need about 15-20 minutes for a shower and about 30 minutes to dry and straighten my hair.

If i'm going somewhere that I don't have to look my best i'll take a shower and mostly dry my hair and then braid it or I'll let it dry curly depending on the weather.

I usually get up around 6:30 - 7 and i have to leave my house by 8 to be to work at 8:30.

During the week: Wake up at 6:00. Have 1 hour to shower/look presentable/waste time on computer/eat breakfast. At work by 7:30. This really isn't enough time and I always feel rushed, but I hate waking up any earlier. Sometimes I end up eating breakfast in my car, which I don't like, but for me breakfast is a necessity.

On the weekend I usually wake up between 8:00 and 9:00 unless my boyfriend is around, then I wake up at noon.

If I have to take a shower, I'll get up at about 6:45 and I have to be out of the house by 8:25. I don't like to rush in the mornings... it makes me cranky. But I don't eat breakfast, either. I just relax and play my DS or PSP for 30 minutes or so. If I don't have to take a shower, I give myself about 30 minutes and that's all I need.

On weekdays I wake up around 6:30 then lay in bed with my dog and watch the morning out the window for about a half an hour before finally getting up for work.

On weekends I do the exact same thing, but without the work part.
