Usually I just listen to music, but some times I'll be watching Conan on my computer while working. I actually get way more done.

The absolutely best thing to watch while working on something like a threadless sub? Making-of DVDs.

Like the Appendix disks of Lord of the Rings. That's like four hours of behind the scenes crap I can watch while cranking out some awesome subs.

What about you?

usually just music, but sometimes guilty pleasure tv, like ANTM.

I've picked up a lot of guilty tv while working. Yesterday I was watching Merlin? WTF?!

hahahaha.

Right now I'm watching 30 Rock while photo-editing and doing laundry/packing... because I am addicted. I will soon run out of episodes.

LOTR making of is sick crazy - I loved the good ol' camera tricks they use to make the hobbits look small.

I watch classic movies on Netflix instant - tonight it's Das Boot - the problem is I have to look over at the subtitles while I work

music. after a few minutes, i lose focus on the vocals/instrumentation and it becomes sort of an ambient noise.

ive tried the tv/video route; it just becomes too much of a distraction.

Also I was working on a comic book project a few years ago and while I was pulling all nighters I would listen to books on tape.

I Can't listen to books on tape being that they require you to actually listen, which robs my attention from the work at hand.

music with the head phones on so I can block everything out. I used to watch tv/movies but I get more done with music.

my roommate would listen to This American Life obsessively while painting.

Once, a few years back, my sister stayed up all night working on her design portfolio, watching The Godfather: Part II on loop.

Usually nothing. It's often hard for me to concentrate if I've got something else on.

I like NPR, but sometimes it's so damned snooty.

i find that alot of the time that what i end up drawing is effected alot by what im listening to

that makes sense. You pull from your environment.

yeah, Blake, similarly, when I used to write a lot of poetry I would find that the rhythms in the pieces kind of aligned with whatever I was listening to.

when im working on a specific project, i end up listening to the same band, or same album over and over again. the music tends to influence the final piece; not always in a good way.

Most music with lyrics gets me distracted because I start singing, but Fiona Apple for some reason gets me in the zone, especially if I am writing.

I usually find myself trying to keep up with my train of thought. I have so many ideas floating around in my head; sometimes it is hard to grasp one. can you say ADD.

I used to try to fall asleep to Pink Moon, because it's so soothing. But I couldn't, because I loved it so much, I'd stay awake to listen to the next song. Also, the colors were distracting.

I have songs that consume me like that; they are my favorites!
