Heya. The beginning of the song is a parody of The Clash's "Know Your Rights." They're one of my favorite bands so it hurts a little to cheapen their poignant commentary on social inequalities and human rights by refrencing them in this goofy song inspired by a shirt laden with bacon, hot dogs, and clown parts. But I just had to. In my defense, I tried to insert my own little commentary on vegetarianism. (Skinnycorp thought they weeded us all out but Lance and I are bringin' it back with a vengeance!)

Anyway, since i slurred the entire vocal in one take, here are the lyrics:

(Know your meats / these are your meats / all three of em ) / I gotta say I'm afraid of how your dinner gets made / does your maid take a blade to whatever bleeds best? / i guess i guessed it / so on the way to the meat parade / all the flayed prey came alive and prayed for the rest of us to come to our senses / just wait until the week when human meat hits the street / and the cannibals all come clean / and lick their lips in kinship / no shit we deal with it / so we live through the pits and get our kicks and fixes / / on the way to the meat parade / i stayed awake and stayed away / there's a way

awesome! it's neat to read the background behind these songs.

i was wondering, in "why did the chicken cross the abbey road," was that supposed to parody both "blackbird" and "why don't we do it in the road," or was that just a coincidence due to the phrasing?

BNannas on May 31 '06 at 9:44am
Hey Sonmi! I'm so glad somebody realized that! That's exactly what it is. Also the lyrics are "Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to The End" since "The End" is the last song on Abbey Road. (excluding "Her Majesty" of course)

And thanks Jake! Many many more to come.

Why do you make songs about t-shirts?
Are you getting paid for this--you should be getting shot.
Jesus christ, talk about forgetting the true meaning of music. If you're evaluating whether or not it's okay to parody The Clash, it's probably okay. (Half their career was a joke anyways). For a song about a fucken t-shirt, it's not. In fact, unless the t-shirt represents opression of freedom in modern society (Lol, get it? NUDITY!!), you probably shouldn't write songs about something so stupid for money...ever.

Oh, and is that the resturant from Seinfeld in your thing?
If so, that's pretty fucking cool.

Also--did you submit your own wikipedia?
Killerlamb
Killerlamb on Jun 02 '06 at 11:44pm
ALSO--Not be annoying as hell, but if you were "VERY IMPORTANT IN THE EMO MOVEMENT" How come I've never heard of you? I mean, I'm not into emo...but if you were a VERY IMPORTANT musician, i'm sure I would have heard of you. (Or at least your band).

I think you submitted a wikipedia of lies!

ALSO--Being a member of threadless staff...you can ask whoever runs this site this question:

Do you think it's really smart to give people money for holding guns to their heads in the "Flowers in the Attic" pictures...?

Wtf shut up Killerlamb.

Braid and hey Mercedes helped define their own genres.

I still dont know if you are a real account, and I truly hope you are fake, and not this much of a tool.

Killerlamb
Killerlamb on Jun 02 '06 at 11:48pm
Okay...Um...I've never heard of either of those bands...Also, the modern emo movement was pioneered by "Sunny Day Real Estate" and, less importantly, "Weezer."

Being paid to make song about t-shirts, some that he probably doesn't even like, make him a tool.

Oh...and you already said that thing was the restaurant from seinfeld. Meh. ://
Killerlamb
Killerlamb on Jun 03 '06 at 1:16am
Anyways, I'm a semi-joke personality. I usually mean the things I write, I just write them 10x as harsh as I mean them...just to see what people will do.

That being said, I downloaded a Braid song...and liked it...I wouldn't say that you were the best band ever, but you were above average. I'll listen to all of your CD's at the record store...which one do you suggest?

----------
I still think that writing songs to sell T-SHIRTS kind of defeats the purpose of making music... ://

ah man, i remember yeeeears back when braid was still around, i went to see you guys somewhere around the u-district in seattle, washington...it was this very small room with people packed in it, the first person to perform was a lady with an acoustic, then some others performed i think, then you guys...and then severna park!

but that was the first time i saw braid ever perform and ever since then, the way everybody was jamming out real hard with a passion...ive been a total fan!

i have lost track of certain projects but its cool that youve teamed up with threadless! i look forward to hearing your songs...thank you!
