Fight Club is by far and away one of the most important movies of our time and one of the best pieces of cinema ever made by human beings. Aliens and bugs might have made something better, i haven't seen their works yet. The book and movie are equally good for completely different reasons.

ilovetomasb - why don't you just post the script for the whole damn film, instead of just telling people all the best bits of the film (including the big mystery/twist of the entire thing).

You muppet.

It's STARship Troopers, too.

I thought A Bug's Life was the crappiest of all the Pixar films (that I've seen...).
FRICKINAWESOME
   FRICKINAWESOME on Jul 09 '07 at 3:08am
I love A Bug's Life....not over the top in an CGI craziness, just a fun story with a good messege and the first of all the computer animation movies to do the "bloopers" reel. Also, it had Kevin Spacey playing a fabulously evil character and relishing in it. Anywho, Cars was by far my least favorite Pixar movie....so boring, and not very smart like thier other features, numero uno being The Incredibles, quite possibly one of my favorite movies of all time, not just computer animated movies. Monsters Inc. wasn't exactly laugh-a-second either. That leaves the Toy Story's and Finding Nemo, all great films one their own.

But I read the book last summer, and it was super DUPER great.

Monsters Inc was one of my favourites. Toy Story probably after that. Then The Incredibles (which was good, and looked the best of all of them, but which wasn't as good as everyone made out).

Ah well - Ratatouille looks interesting.

I wanted to stab out my eyeballs a little bit while I was watching Cars.

Luckily we left before the ending, when all of the cars got together and made mini coopers.

Well, I'm not a brad pitt fan, and I've seen bits of the movie, less than a minute total....I really cannot listen to his voice, or the voices a lot of th eother actors, and the scene i saw felt contrived
FRICKINAWESOME
   FRICKINAWESOME on Jul 09 '07 at 3:31am
nothing in fight club is contrived, brewhaha. It's an organic movie, and if anything feels played out, that's because this movie started it and others have aped its breakthroughs for ten years now. I honestly don't see one moment that isn't gut-bustingly thoughtful or mind-blowingly amazing both cinematically or narratively. After this movie was over, my friends and I went to a diner and talked about it for four hours. I think you should really see it with an open mind and let its wonderful take on modern man's primal conditions being far too diluted which causes people to lash out in many unexpected ways in a modern capitalistic society. Also, i love brad pitt (he's in 12 monkeys and this film, two of my favorite moives of all time), but don't let him distract you from the central points of the film, which pummel you with awesomeness in literally every moment of the movie. It's a masterpiece from start to finish as far as im concerned. I'm just a wee bit obsessed with it, if you couldn't tell. lol.

Change the title of this blog to "I try to be unique by not liking things that are popular". Fight Club is brilliant, and if you haven't seen it, you're missing out. You don't like Brad Pitt...you like to use words like "contrived" so that you sound smart. Big deal.

We're happy for you...

no guys...BrewHaHa is a unique little snowflake! He's so different than all of us! He's so special because he won't conform by seeing a big budget Hollywood picture with a prettyboy actor Brad Pitt in it!

Let's all bow to BrewHaHa's awesomeness and willpower to not be like anyone else!

Fight Club is great, but personally I think the quality of it really dropped in the last 30-45 minutes. Still a great, great film though. Stylistically, it's brilliant and original, and if the style looks a little unoriginal now it's because it has been mimicked so often since. The acting is great - Edward Norton is, as almost always, excellent, and Brad Pitt is just having so much FUN. Helena Bonham Carter grates a bit sometimes, but she's pretty funny, and also seems to be having a great time.

The themes are a little confused at points, and I know that its aggressively macho, brutal, disgusting content and idealism is something a lot of people find just TOO much. But in general, it serves to make some good points. The scene at the start when Norton's apartment turns into an IKEA-style catalogue is GENIUS.

Btw, I was watching It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia this weekend - the episode where Charlie and Dee are training for the underground street fighting tournament.

Classic.

yeah that ikea part was killer 13. Such a good piece of filming. It was all one great piece of filming but that was a focal point for me time and time again.
FRICKINAWESOME
   FRICKINAWESOME on Jul 09 '07 at 4:40am
I don't think the theme of that movie was aggressively macho, 13strong. It was about the nature of who we are as evolved wild beasts- they weren't fighting to impress some girls or anything remotely MACHO...they just were releasing the part of themselves that they are told to ignore in the modern world, the part that has let us get to this point as a species by hunting and fighting off other elements that would have doomed us without that primal sense we all have deep down somewhere. Also, the comments the film makes on all the things we try to desensitize ourselves with in modern life and how capatialism further separates us from what our body truly craves and actually needs are also amazing points that have been aped non-stop since this film. This film actually made me feel better about the thoughts i was having about the modern world, and made me realized i wasnt alone in my thoughts on this. Then i discovered the culture-jamming magazine of Adbusters. I think many people who criticized this film for being anti-woman or brutal and violent are completely missing the point this film was trying to get at. but many people are so blindingly allegiant to the American ideal of more being better at all costs and modern life's "progress" is the end all be all of life don't give the film credit for providing another viewpoint about it all.

lol@jpiatt. I'm not sure if that's what brewhaha is getting at, but yeah, the "contrived" thing pissed me off when i read it since this movie is overflowing with original ideas.

jpiatt what colour is the sky in your world?

I'll give the dvd another try today. Most of the input I have had about the movie is, "Totally Awesome!"....I think Good Burger is an awesome movie, or thought...But a few of your comments detail intricate and provoking depth within the movie.

jpiatt on the other hand, i hope your sleep eases you

I've never thought i'd hear the movies Fight Club and Good Burger tossed around in the same thought pattern. Truly amazing, BrewHaHa!

All about me

I archive/design/iron clothes.

I use a typewriter, at school. I'll be an Architecture Major next (or this current) semester.

I keep my alarm clock 5 feet away from me, on my TV which isn't plugged in. You see, it used to be on my nightstand, but I developed the ability to roll over and turn it off, causing me to be late getting up from bed. So now, I have to physically get up, walk to my TV, and hit the snooze button.

I've recently been published in a local literary periodical for a short story.

A short story a day keeps the numbness of life away.
