I don't think I have an absolute favorite book. All books by Emily Giffin, Rachel Cohen, and Sarah Dessen are good.
But I also like Stiff (just finished last night, there is something amazing about reading what they do with dead people), Crank, The Memory Keeper's Daughter, and about a bajillion more.
MARGO! i attempted to start reading East of Eden this week, but i did so at jury duty and was not successful. i really REALLY do want to read it though.
i used to be in love with most of the anne rice books, until i stopped, and now they're not the same.
memiors of a geisha
confessions of a dangerous mind
the little friend
the green mile
a million little lies
a corner of the universe
speak
catalyst
feed
in the forests of the night
demon in my view
kissing doorknobs
brave new girl(not sure if that's the title)
feeling sorry for celia
the ladie who liked clean restrooms
the catcher in the rye
edgar allan poe is great
and there is probably more that i cant think of at the moment...
OH!
special k:
also, A Million Little Pieces + My Friend Leonard are HUGE favorites of mine. I really don't care if parts aren't true, I still thought the books were damn good.
and Perks of Being a Wallflower was great. If you liked that, Pieces was pretty good, too.
The Perks of being a Wallflower, Running with Scissors, The Picture of Dorian Grey, The Cheese Monkeys, Blood & Chocolate, The Metamorphisis, Magical Thinking, The Hours, anything by Douglas Coughlin
I just read The Picture of Dorian Grey last weekend. Totally freaked me out, but it was sooooooo good. Anything by Oscar Wilde is good.
My favorites are:
The Great Gatsby (duh)
Catch-22
The Second Sex
Jane Eyre
any Ray Bradbury anthology
The Lost Continent by Bill Bryson (another favorite author)
and probably a zillion more I forget at the moment...I have trouble keeping track b/c I tend to choose books carefully and therefore love most of them.
jexwell: ive read blood & chocolate, i forgot all about that. titles always escape me.
ive also read the silver kiss, i do believe they are by the same author.
and please note: i mentioned feed as a favorite.
i made a mistake.
i meant to list thirsty, feed is the sequal and i did not like it at all.
I liked Of Mice and Men but I really think East of Eden beats the crap out of it (if they were to, you know, square off).
Partly I'm just prejudiced because East of Eden is much longer whereas Of Mice and Men took me maybe ninety minutes or less to read, meaning I probably didn't absorb much of it or get very invested.
i have yet to read east of eden.
i read of mice and men in class, so i remember going through that book line by line everyday.
it made me appreciate it so much, and we also watched a few different movie versions of the book.
I looked up Alphabet of Manliness, my library doesn't have it but I will request it next time I go in. They don't have Confessions of a Dangerous Mind either, I will request it though.
Going to the same library since before you could read has perks, the librarians get to know you and let you pick out books for them to buy :)
