Come on Customs :(
I need my threadless goodness :(

I'm desperate for my War Against Work tee that I ordered on 6th June, which was shipped on the 13th June but arrived 3 weeks later with a £16/$32 customs charge. Turns out the price on the packaging read $97 for 1 tshirt and so we refused to pay, printed out the relevant receipts and sent it back to customs. And now the waiting begins...

I wish I wasn't so impatient but I want my shirt, it was my first medium so I don't even know if it will fit when it gets here.

So I just had to moan a little, I feel slightly better now.

I can't pretend I know anything about customs, but it sounds like it sucks a lot! $97 for one shirt would make my head explode.

Im in England, Threadless says it was DHL's fault. I was pretty annoyed when I got there, we could of payed and got reinbursed by customs but the Post Office puts another charge on top we wouldn't have got back so I just have to wait.

and i always have to pay an additional $18-$25 for customs per pack of 3 girly tshirts. it is bloody irritating.

I know how you feel, but Vindemiatrix knows better Hers got printed as $170 and got a charge of £23.

Taz-Pie, you sure they haven't got lost cos thats an awful long time. I only order 1 at a time so I dont get customs charges, I can order 2 and still be in the limit though.

Stubby43, yeah it seems like it happened a few times, Threadless said there was a recent problem and that it had now been solved cos it was all DHL's fault (they apparently made up the values). At least I got a $10 voucher for my trouble.

Yay, got my t-shirt this morning! Got another slip through saying I owed £16 in postage charges so feared the worse. Asked to speak to someone who knew what they were doing as the man at the desk tried to tell us even though the customs declaration was covered in red stamps saying cancelled that we still had to pay because it was a post office charge now, not a customs one. The man who knew what he was doing was very helpful and rang the reference number to check there were no more charges to pay and there weren't so I got to take my parcel. Yay! I am very happy now I have my t-shirt!

Angelito - They only charge customs on items valued over £18. So you can safely buy 2 normal tshirts without being charged as they are valued at $30 which at the current exchange rate is £14.72. They only tried to charge me because of a mistake on the packaging.

This morning I received two shirts no problem, :) They are so going on holiday with me next week!

angelito, they might not charge you, often they let things slip through. Once I got an order of three shirts and hoody without being charged for it! But it looks like they're tightening up security a bit now because of the dollar's continuing low, so I wouldn't try anything as cheeky as that again!

I don't really get a lot of stuff imported usually because of postage so haven't had that much experience with customs. Even if they let it go through they may get you later though. My mum bought me stuff from thinkgeek for christmas and about 3 months later customs sent her a bill!

Um..well.. I'm Lyssa, im 18, in Year 13 and will start University in September to do Aerospace Systems Engineering at Hertfordshire.
