A post got me thinking so i'll just thought i'd put this here,

A point i'd like to raise is the small mindedness of people who focus on the mispellings of comments.

Fair go you're allowed to make your point in the best way possible....

...however if it is such a compelling argument for you that you have to deviate from the topic to prove how better you are on a lingistic level to the poster than maybe silence is the best post you can give....

Since grammar Nazi’s get punched in the nose in the real world, they choose to reign supreme in the virtual world.

It always reminds me of the MAD magazine comic, the explorer in a jungle stumbles opon a "Thesaurus-Rex" who when he yells "Help!" the Theasaurus Rex replies with "Help; n to aid, assist, facilitate, support....."

Makes me giggle everytime.....

I implore anyone to proof-read everything they do... there isn't much of an excuse when most, if not all computers have spell checkers.

But I do agree with your point. A design shouldn't be dragged down due to a spelling error. It's obvious that things like that can be changed if and when the shirt goes to print.

so let me get this straight... you feel that it's ok to type with spelling mistakes?

People definitely don't have to be so mean about it, but I agree, entries should be proofread. It's pretty quick to do, and makes a huge difference. I won't usually make fun of someone's spelling, but there's no way I'd vote for a tee with a misspelled word on it either, because I wouldn't honestly wear it.

People wouldn't think much of you in the real world (work, school, etc) with flagrantly misspelled words, why should it be any different online? I am hardly the world's best speller, but I believe you should always make an effort to present yourself well.

^I agree Semanti.

and regarding entries with misspelled words, it's the same reaction for misspelled slogan entries.

The op seems to be talking about posting and typing, no?

As for entries, once the pont has been made a couple of times, that should do the trick. No shirt would be printed with the error, so best to focus on the concept...

candadian bever has got it people....

entries... like all us designers.. have to be looked over..same as our jobs..end of story, we got fired for stuff like that...

MY CONCERN is the glut in puffed chests in forums all over the web with people with nothing better to bring to an arguments table except...

"i have nothing better to say, so you spelt that wrong, since I am pointing that out - i am better than you and all your previous intelligent remarks... are now invalid."

i'm glad it got people talking... muchy appreciated!

well some people [like me] get annoyed by spelling mistakes.

but yeah, it's not ok to correct a small error.

big ones though, i think it's fine, and kind of funny to correct someone.

The funniest spelling mistakes are found in the classified section of newspapers.
