I am brand new to threadless, after I saw this shirt, I couldn't resist signing up and buying it, it is utterly clever. But I am having a problem with sizing. I don't have a body measuring tape, so I'm using a string, and my waist is showing to be around 30", which is supposed to be a Large. But I wear XS and size zero for Gap and Banana Republic, which are less than 30". I don't really want to get an oversized Threadless shirt, please advice on what size I should get.

It's better to go by chest measurement (32 34 36 etc, not cup size), because that's where the shirt is most fitted. The AA tees tend to run a little smaller, too, and sometimes shrink a little in the wash (although my baby blue shirts have never shrunk).

I just saw your pictures on your page, just to get an idea, if it's not too personal, what size do you wear, Leslee?

Girly large, I'm a M-L in other brands.

I ended up ordering two mediums and one small (Lost a Wheel (M), Octopus (S), Flowers in the Attic (M)) just to test out the sizes. The neckline looks really small though, hahaha, don't know if my big head's going to fit through. It's still worth it owning those shirts though. Thanks a lot for your help.

From the sizing chart it looks like the shirts are sized as just width (laid flat) as opposed to wasit/chest circumference.

Is that what other people have found to be the case? That could be why it seemed you needed L instead of S.

Update, incase anyone else has this same problem.

First of all, Threadless sent me a different size from what I ordered for one of the shirts. So instead of the above, I got Lost a Wheel in small, too. Which is a GREAT thing.

So, after trying on both medium and small, small seems to be my size. It's okay that I got Flowers in the Attic in medium though, since that one still look good slightly bigger. Now, just let me wait and see if the shirts shrink.

And oh boy, I love the stickers that come with the purchase, and oh boy, am I hooked on the shirts.

It will probably be easier to buy a measuring tape. you can get them at a sewing store.

It will also be helpful ordering from other sites, as well as knowing your size in general.

some stores use the same measurements. youll sometines see pants sizes in 32 or 30, 0r 28, etc.

If you have a tape measure you will know exactly which one to get.
