post what makes you yourself laugh, don't try to appeal to everyone else, cause then they get all watered down and crappy.

Jell,

I don't think you need to learn anything. I think your slogans are funny! I think a lot of it is a popularity contest. If people know you, they are more likely to vote positively on your slogans.

I've also seen that it's not necessarily all about talent. I've put up stupid crap, and it scores well. I've put up something I thought was brilliant, and it scores awful.

The Frickin guy that gee talked about, I do not know. But I've noticed that he has a lot of female followers. So I'm guessing that's why he's scored so well. He has some great slogans, but nothing particularly better than yours. Hence, the popularity contest.

I might score better if I could find a better Avitar. I've tried a few different ones, and they all suck. My floosy image isn't helping! hahahaha

Eh?

Among other problems with what you just said... almost all of the people who vote on your slogans (unless you advertise yourself like this), won't see your avatar... so...?

jelliots alive, I suggest asking yourself if you'd really want to wear your own slogan on a tshirt. While they might be funny, people mightn't actually want to wear them.

Kiss, lighten up, it's a joke.

Jell... you say "I just want to know how you guys think of such funny little sayings." You should include yourself in with that group! Your's are great!

Some people keep a paper and pen with them, and something hits you, write it down that moment. A lot of people just put themselves in that "oh, what that person just said would make a good slogan shirt" sorta mentality. Always thinking, you know what I mean?

I'm clearly not one of those people. I'm here more to make some designs. But I really haven't figured out yet how I can make what I'm already doing work with this site. I guess I'm waiting for inspiration!

Good luck! And Happy 2008!

C'mon girls, follow me to the slogan hut where i keep all my sub-par wordy fun-times, and let me dabble your feet with ointments and hand you rose after rose after rose in order for you to vote highly for me. Please, never you mind what my slogan says, just know that I wrote it FOR YOU. And YOU only.

by the way, I like your "wedgies" slogan, j.e.l.l.

I apologize, I didn't mean my comment to sound like that, Frickin. You have very good stuff. My point was, so does jello. But since she isn't as well known as you are, I think she's not scoring as well as she could be. Don't you agree?
FRICKINAWESOME
   FRICKINAWESOME on Jan 01 '08 at 5:44am
I was once in the exact same place, and while I admit Jello's got some definite promise, I don't find anything that she has slogan-wise to really be note-worthy. I don't mean that to be mean, only that none of them are particularly worded dynamically and universal or clever enough to warrant a shirt print. Like i said, jello is just starting out, and I think with some honing and looking at the kinds of ideas that make up good shirt type tees, she can do some awesome stuff.

I also invite anyone who has a love and zest for language and slogans to come join the Official Slogan Club (hyperlink to the club is located underneath my OSC card on the lower portion of my profile) and discuss with us what ingredients make the perfect word tee.

Also Lacy, I do agree that being more well-known for ANYTHING causes people to score or praise things higher than an unknown, but that doesn't mean I still don't work as hard as i used to. Every day I try to reach into the deepest parts of my head for connections and jokes and observations about the world i can convert into slogans for hopeful printage. It's tons of fun, and it keeps my creative juices flowing also for the collaboration ideas I try to harness as well. Also, i still get tons of low-scoring slogans, and anything under 35 percent DEF isn't a keeper anymore, so even with more notoriety, I have raised my standards as well to meet that possible issue.

Also, I'm sooo not trying to toot my own horn, but i've got some pretty good slogans Lucy. I am extraordinarily proud of my list of slogans, and someday soon, you or jello could have a list you are as proud of as i am of mine. I'm also proud of so many slogan club members and people in general on this site that have AMAZING slogan collections, some criminally not printed. Come over and check out some slogan club members slogans and see why i think many of them warrant being printed.

Thank you Frickin. Who is Lucy?

As I wrote, I'm here more for the design portion of the site. But thought it would be fun to throw some slogans up there. So far I haven't come up with anything I think is particularly good. I also haven't really tried. LOL

Thanks for the invite to your slogan club. I took a glance at it. It looks like someone has put a lot of hard work into it. Cool idea. But so much to read, so much to get through. Do I look like I am one of those high energy people?

I took a look at your slogans jelloitis (screen name btw, way too hard to type properly) and most have zero capitals and at least one has a prob with an apostrophe. Maybe I'm on my own but it is distracting and affects the rating I give.

I am learning slogan writing too. (I have some up for scoring if anyone could be bothered).

Jel, like I keep saying, I like your stuff. I went in, after you made this blog, and voted for your stuff. If I hadn't "known" you, I wouldn't have voted. So, noterioty has some benefits.

Wish-ga, excellent ideas! I never thought about the punucations! Thanks! That may help me also. (although I just think I'm hopeless)
geewally
geewally on Jan 02 '08 at 3:21am
Threadless would never print a slogan without proper punctuation, same as they would never print a design that didn't meet their formatting requirements.
madruga
madruga on Jan 02 '08 at 7:41am
Other than that, I don't know what makes them print a slogan... it's quite rare, and probably loosely based on the score rating itself.
The reason we can see clearly... non popular people like jelloits and me can consider 20% as a nice score for a slogan, and 35% as a moment of brilliance, while that is the bottom layer for freakin', the one whose slogans are voted by a pack of members, even if they sound worse than some of our slogans (no offense intended).
Moreover, some of my most brilliant slogans got abysmal scores and some stupid ones got well rated... I'm not trying to understand voters anymore!

Just submit when you think of a nice slogan, and then forget about it... no use worrying about scores, much less about being selected for print. It's kind of a lottery.

yeah i knew my punctuation was off but i thought like if it was well liked and if for some odd reason they did decide to print they would let me fix stuff..but yeah i think im going to resubmit with punctuation although i havent gotten a very high percent on any of them...i dont know gotta think about it
