Chicago. (no drunken blogger pics)

my boyfriend and i went to chicago this weekend but did more chicago stuff than mishmashing.
we had never been before and wanted to check out as much as possible...

we had a list of a places to go given to me by my boss... a bunch of galleries and local stuff.
the favorites were DVA gallery and rotofugi...
my boss has stuff at both of the places check out his site, he reigns supreme...

i own a few... BOAST. this is the favorite of my collection.

anyways, at DVA julie west had some stuff there... DROOL.

also there was this AWESOME arts fesitval deal on Division.
we were there for hours and bought some cool new art... met some awesome artists...

he has great, affordable art. the coolest guy ever... gave us some free prints.

it was awesome to meet the people we did and thanks to threadless for the gift bags and putting on an awesome show.

(p.s. Jared i brought some prints for you but never ran into you again still wanna trade?)

Yeah we got to that craft show way late and scored big on misprint posters. I wish I had put more cash aside for that kind of stuff, there were so many great artists there.

I lost the guy's card on the way back, but they were $5 each and they were huge and beautiful. I'll have to take some pics tomorrow.

Matt was the coolest guy ever!
i told him i was familiar with his work and he gave me some free stuff. his line work is so brilliant.... can't stop staring at everything we got.

Leon, it was awesome... an overload of cool stuff all weekend.

When I went to Chicago last November my only goal was to go to the Art Institute and see "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" by Seurat, my favorite painting.

I want to go back to Chicago so bad. Living in Texas sucks because there are no decent big cities... just a lot of wannabees. Although the scene in Austin is pretty cool.

I didn't go to rotofugi, but I went to A-okay. Kayce and I had a hard time not blowing money on designer vinyls. The Fort Worth art scene's got their act together, they'res always something cool going on.

I own Matt Cipov's creatures of the deep series. I love, love, love his work. His animal mask drawings are fantastic. It is awesome that you met him!

and YES matt is the coolest! we bought some of his zombie and mask prints... i love the line work, if it were jam, i'd put it on toast and eat it.

hey! i think i saw you for that one instant as the mash of people were leaving the store on friday. i kind of did the awkward uncertain wave sort of thing. anyway, i still really want to trade prints. i guess i'll just have to mail them instead of doing the in person exchange. i'm sure i'll see you on aim and we can hash out the details.

and the matty8080 prints are awesome! i bought a couple online a few weeks ago.
