after taking the elevator 5 floors down, getting in my car and starting it... i couldn't remember turning my curling iron off. i got out of the car, went back into my apartment building got in the elevator and went back up to my apartment to make sure my curling WAS off.

and it was.

this caused me to be late to work by 1 minute.

I do stuff like that all the time.

I was late to work by 1.5 hours today.
melh696
   melh696 on Sep 05 '07 at 8:24am
did you leave your curling iron on too?
Tonteau
   Tonteau on Sep 05 '07 at 8:28am
No, it was my straightening forceps.

I constantly lock my front door, then walk out on to the street, then think "Did I lock the door??", then walk all the way back up, and yes, numnuts, of course you did.

So don't worry - it's like mild OCD, and everyone gets it. One time, I went back to check the door, walked away, had the same doubt come back, and went back and checked AGAIN.

Now, THAT'S crazy.

it's was actually a flat iron a.k.a straightening forceps...

my bangs get out of control sometimes.
melh696
   melh696 on Sep 05 '07 at 8:31am
now, that is crazy, you went back again?!

i think you got it bad.

the fact that you're worried because you were one minute late for work is actually scarier
melh696
   melh696 on Sep 05 '07 at 8:37am
well...

considering my boss sent a "come to work on time" email to our entire department yesterday, i was a little worried.

BUT i think my boss left his curling iron on too - he was 22 minutes late. and i am vindicated.

Only has happened a couple of times, but I hate when I leave ride my bike 5min uphill then realize I left my watch and go back for it. I just loath not having it.
13strong
13strong on Sep 05 '07 at 8:39am
Ah, I think I was pretty tired/anxious that day. I get it worse when I'm stressed out or worn out. Hasn't happened in a while.

I know some people who are properly OCD, and it's in a different league altogether.

i think i have a real ocd, every time i leave the house i have to check about five times if i have my keys and my wallet.. sometimes when i don't check right after leaving, i walk five minutes and then go through my bag to see if i have everything and get nervous if i dont find my wallet or cellphone..

luckily nowone really cares here when i am here.. if am here before nine, my boss is likely not to be here yet and my whole floor is empty.. lazy scientist i guess :D

i do the exact same thing.... Ive even gone so far as to be driving for a while before I start questioning myself, so then I turn around and go back to find that I indeed locked it

Jebbie, BTW.. i have naturally curly hair too.

BUT i got a japanese magic straight perm like 2 months ago and my hair is perfectly STRAIGHT forever. i just flat iron my bangs when i get out of the shower.

it's super expensive but totally worth it.

although i am begining to miss my curls :(

regarding the losing and breaking of sunglasses, i'm on my third pair this summer.

its funny how girls with straight hair would like to have curls (like me) and vice versa..

i guess the grass is always greener on the other side :)

I have to go back and check my straighteners, curling iron, or iron (whichever I've been using). I normally think about it just as I've locked the door. I came home from an evening out, to find that I'd left the iron on, on the floor, 1 inch from the sofa. I've also left the cooker on, with a pan on. Luckily I have expensive heavy pans, so they were not ruined.

oh shoot, you haven't called at all yet? good luck my friend, pickins's is slim. keep me updated (or surprise me)!
melh696
   melh696 on Sep 05 '07 at 9:28am
my friend and i went and got it done at the same time, about 2 months ago - neither of us have had problems with it - the regrowth is supposed to be just like your normal hair, but mine is coming in so much more healthy because i am not straightening or blowdrying it EVERY DAY. i just brish it straight and let it dry.

the best thing that's ever happened to me

I echo 13strong's comments; well done girl.

Everytime I leave the house (and am the last person out) I have to shut the windows and often, I walk out the front door and stroll down the street before turning round to see that the windows are open.

*cue me running in and out again*

I plug my straightening iron into an outlet that is controlled by the light switch. I'm anal about turning out the lights, careless with turning off the straightner. This way I make sure the straightner is off with me actually having to remember to turn it off.

There has been many times when I come home from work, flip on the light, and about fifteen minutes later smell something and realize my straighter is on. At least I'm there.

I'm well known for checking my wallet for my ID/credit cards/whatever else like 347 times after I've used something from it.

melhel, that is brilliant!
melh696
   melh696 on Sep 05 '07 at 10:41am
rholiday, losing the ID/credit card is my specialty.

i've told my boyfriend so many times that i'd take him to dinner then i look in my purse frantically and it's ALWAYS missing.

it goes through the wash on a weekly basis and i've have it replaced 3 times.
