the old one is unbeatable!

the 98's version is not that bad...but Hitchcock is Hitchcock!

normally i'm not a stickler like most about remakes, some can be great, sometimes even better. but the psycho remake was no where near as spectacular as the original (and I HATE black and white and not a huge fan of Hitchcock for that matter not anything against him just not one of my favs). the thing is they just recast and shot it in color. they didn't try to add anything to it, didn't try to do it differently just did it poorly. However. Vince Vaughn's performance was like a diamond in a terd.

has anyone seen the video clip where they overlay the original and the 98 version? it's trippy.

Both are good films but Hitchcock's is a masterpiece of film.

i was pretty baked and saw the end of the 98 one last night. now i've decided i have to rent both of them and watch them.

i'm usually not a fan of remakes (ex. charlie and the chocolate factory) but from what i saw, 98 wasn't that awful.

never saw the point of remaking it.

i just got back from X3. it was really good, even though it didn't follow the tv series or comic.

definitely the original. oh, and those are some of the most magnificent movies ever made that you put on your list of favourite movies... except for the life aquatic, i never saw that...

I like the one Brett Ratner is going to direct in 2007.

I don't even need to see it to know that it ROCKS.

I mean, even though Michael Mann directed the first Hannibal Lecter film Manhunter, Brett Ratner really overdid everyting anybody had ever done with Red Dragon.

If you don't like it, then you can just go home, pansies.

Ok well the reason that Gus Van Sant remade Hitchcock's psycho is because Van Sant has something of a Hitchcock fetish. It's kind of like in English class when they have you do imitations of famous authors, for Van Sant it was like an excercise to tap in to the way Hitchcock's mind worked, to feel what it was like for Hitchcock's to make his version and see the kinds of decisions he made. In my film course this past semester we actually spent a period comparing scenes. Hitchcock's is certainly more effective, but it is unfair to say that Van Sant didn't anything of his own, the newer one is a bit edgier and he plays more on the sex aspect of the dialogue with his editing and mise en scène. Still a much more devote fan of the Hitchcock though.

Sorry, I'm a bit touchy when it comes to films.

no, i love black and white anythign a lot more than colour. i'm just saying there are some odd people who won't watch movies that aren't colour.

Jude/Julius, I have a question. My [imbittered] friends think that Julliard is just a table with people writing rejection letters, and there is no actual school.

How accurate is that theory?

had, buy/rent Fame (directed by Alan Parker) and you'll know what New York City High School for the Performing Arts (aka Juilliard) is all about.

hehe, it can seem that way but WE DO EXIST! though the admissions people can be total crapsculpters.

Per, I think that they based the high school on LaGuardia HIgh school for the performing arts

I'll tell them that, but they won't believe me.

NO

It can't be, Lori Singer (Julie Miller) wouldn't go studying to anything as crass LaGuardia high, it would have to be Juilliard and nothing else.
