Let's talk about this Thermos challenge? First time we get to design on something that isn't flat.

Got any ideers?

They look like bullet or ammunition to me.. so you could feed off that...

Im hoping i get free time to design something for this challenge! looks like fun!

Wow my mind went straight to something naughty... :( yikes... Fred and the Giant Eel

What do people use Thermos' for other than water? Blood for vampires? ... Maybe make it look like some nasty soup with chunks in it on the outside, some soup looks like throw up.

maybe something about temperature? Montros thermometer design would be cool.

Are previously thermossed alumni eligible for this?

(also 6 "birds of a feather" thumbnails made me lol a bit)

also these bottles are pretty nice. Patterns I think will suit them well.

So is thermos just using two designs for this new bottle? Or is it like four of their own and two threadless?
arzie13
   arzie13 on Jan 31 '11 at 3:32pm
One will be chosen by us, that will be put on shirts and bottles. Thermos will pick out a few more that will just go on the bottles.

Too bad I already did Stop! Tea Time!

but yeah:patternish could work nicely.
I wouldn't mind seeing something fairly abstract for my thermo.

I will do at least one pattern for sure.

All I wanna do is old fashioned plaid and checked designs.

I worry that I may be missing the point.

ooooh, Tea Time would be awesome on them!!!

I'm imagining either some birdies on trees (but then I always do) or maybe it being like a fishtank with little fishies in it? I'm having trouble imagining something that would work awesomely both on the thermos and on the tee.

i have an idea for a thermos covered in koosh-ball material that would sell like hotcakes

I know we just did the coffee loves but what about a coffee based design? It was the first thing I thought of.

rossmat8 on Jan 31 '11 at 4:06pm
What about something that makes it look as though the top half is full and the bottom half is empty. Like make the top half look like juice or something then the bottom half be clear. It would mess with people's mind.
Musarter
Musarter on Jan 31 '11 at 4:10pm
There was a half-full design here, on Threadless, that would would have worked really well for this challenge.

[+duracell-] on Jan 31 '11 at 4:13pm
Koosh-ball material is pretty smart actually.
It wouldn't fit right in a cars drink holder so youd have to hold it between your legs.

Can you use ink that changes color from cold/hot beverages being in the thermos?

   d3d on Jan 31 '11 at 4:17pm
how far does the print wrap around?

heat active ink would be cool, except the point of a thermos is that there's no radiant heat from inside to outside. no matter how hot the coffee inside is, the image outside wouldn't feel it.

   mismonaut on Jan 31 '11 at 4:20pm
All of my designs are going to look like actual thermoses from thirty years ago.

the print can wrap all the way around. They would just need to match up at the seam. Check out the the sub kit.

a maze would be pretty cool. and the escape would, of course, be near the top of the thermos.

I was thinking of having a Rube Goldberg style contraption displaying how the liquid inside gets from the bottom of the canister to the top.

I dont think id be able to pull that idea off though.

i was thinking of having a water scene, water waving and lapping up the sides so it looks transparent-ish?

I think there'll be a lot of designs centered around liquid (water mostly).
I hope people move away from that, though.

yeah, you're probably right. maybe some other cool "filling?"

hey ross, is simulated process allowed?

first thing i thought of was naaaawty haha

im gonna do something where the bottle is a robot and it's holding and cloud upside down and rain is coming out upside down toward the top.

I wish you could print on the cap, we could have some awesome execution stuff.
