I used to cycle 8/9 miles to work and back every day.

Then I learned to drive and now I can't see a way back from my laziness :(

I talked to the owner of the bike shop where I got my new road bike and I asked him if they've seen an increase in bike sales since gas has really started to jump. He said they've seen zero increase...

This is happening people

holy crap. was that price for regular? if so, you are officially higher than northern california, which has been the highest in the country lately. our regular is around 4.10ish. premium is higher, and diesel is upwards of 4,75. insane. i'm glad i live within biking distance of work.

don't worry shirtflirt, I caught that AD reference and it was glorious! The stair-car is a bit hard on gas so I can see why Michael bikes to work....

Canada's in the shits with gas as well....although it's not as bad as Ireland and New Zeland it's still about $1.35 a litre where I am....*ouch*

your countries should learn to invest in public transport..

1 liter is here (Switzerland) about $1.80 at the moment, but they say it will reach $2 at some point..

the equivalent in britain is $8.13 a gallon! (that's after converting from litres to gallons and from £ to $)

think yourself lucky!

A US gallon (about 4 litres) costs about $8.50 in Ireland at the moment. - €1.35/litre at $1.58 to the euro. You guys in the US have got to give up the humungo trucks and start driving regular cars like the rest of the world. Some day soon you'll wake up and realise that you're the only ones still riding dinosaurs while the rest of us are hovering to work with our jet packs, silver suits and pills for breakfast.

So people...not in the US say we are "belly achin'" about the price of gas? Driving dinosaurs? I surely don't drive a hummer, a 4 cylinder, and it cost me oodles to fill up my tank. Keep in mind I used my lawn mower gas to drive my 9 year old to school the other morning. Give us some years, and I'm sure our "little" towns will be just as close together so we can ride our bikes everyday to our kids' school, and then to work. I'm buying this t-shirt. Well done fella's! I read your article in INC. magazine. You guys got a good thing going.

Why do you need bike shorts to ride a bike? Tens of millions of Europeans ride each day in their normal clothes, on normal bikes, as can be seen here.

I certainly hope that the oil crisis America is experiencing gets more people on their bikes and lobbying for bike lanes.
